AMA-logo-230PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association delivered 29,379 signatures to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today, along with a stern message in opposition to the agency’s proposal to increase the amount of ethanol in the nation’s fuel.

“The Renewable Fuel Standard proposal announced on May 29 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency would increase the risk of inadvertent misfueling for motorcyclists and all-terrain-vehicle owners by forcing the widespread availability of higher-ethanol fuel blends, such as E15,” said Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations.

RENO, Nev. – Undergoing rounds of aggressive chemotherapy treatments since early May, long-time SCORE Mexican Liaison Oscar Ramos Jassen, 52, of Tijuana, Mexico, died Thursday following the second day of his fourth round of chemo sessions, SCORE International announced.

Ramos was originally diagnosed with esophageal cancer in late April with a large tumor in his stomach area. He had been receiving testing and treatment at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia in Mexico City prior to his death on Thursday late afternoon.

After a successful practice on Friday, rare thunderstorms came through the San Bernadino Foothills, postponing Round 9 until Sunday morning and Round 10 had to be rescheduled to the Lake Elsinore event at the end of the season. But even with the track drastically changing with all the rain, Casey had another strong points weekend and put down the fastest lap time of the Pro Lite class.

AMA-logo-230PICKERINGTON, Ohio — More than 25,000 people have joined the American Motorcyclist Association to oppose federal mandates that would result in the spread of higher-ethanol blended fuels and increase the risk of inadvertent misfueling for motorcyclists and others.

To date, the AMA has collected 25,151 signatures on its online petition urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency not to increase the proposed renewable fuel volumes this year and, instead, to adopt lower mandates.
