Kawasaki-Villopot-Off-Road-5-21-13Irvine, Calif. – Three weeks after wrapping up his third-consecutive Monster Energy Supercross championship, Ryan Villopoto kicked off the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship with a dominating 1-1 performance. Villopoto took over the lead before the halfway point in both motos and was unchallenged, winning by more than 20 seconds. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer finished 13th, while Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson finished ninth and 14th, respectively. In the 250 class, defending champion Blake Baggett finished second overall. His teammates Justin Hill, Darryn Durham, and Martin Davalos finished 10th, 14th, and 17th respectively, to open the season.

Making it Look Easy
After fighting for a third straight supercross title the last four months, Villopoto did not have much time to prepare for his first outdoor season since 2011. You would have never known it though, as he handled the competition to take the lead in both motos and win by more than 20 seconds. Monster Energy Kawasaki are some of the few that are running the new triple chamber air fork, which Villopoto put to the test and demonstrated how well it worked on the rough Hangtown track.

Husqvarna-Off-Road-5-21-13Corona, CA – The EnduroCross crowd headed overseas for another round of the International X Games Enduro X, this time in Barcelona, Spain where Cory Graffunder rode his TXC310R to a fifth-place finish. Also in action over the weekend was the Fred Andrews Racing (FAR) Husqvarna team at the Limestone GNCC. Though Andrew DeLong didn’t fare quite as well, he managed to salvage a top-ten finish and keep his XC2 points chase alive.

Rain threatened to turn the Barcelona, Spain Enduro X event into another mud fest, but the promoters managed to keep the course dry and fast for the Moto X competition. Factory Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder called on his motocross skills to tackle the jumpy high-speed course, and thanks to a bold move on the tractor tire jump, was able to pass former teammate Kyle Redmond in the main event. Graffunder ran as high as fourth, and held on strong to finish close behind former champion Taddy Blazusiak.

BFGoodrich-Logo-2-19-13Lake Elsinore, Calif. – Drivers on BFGoodrich®  Tires captured three class wins and eight total podium finishes at rounds five and six of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park over the weekend.

Team BFGoodrich member Rob MacCachren led a pack of drivers that included Sheldon Creed and Steven Greinke claiming wins in their respective classes.

Racers on BFGoodrich Tires captured six Optima Fastest Lap awards out of the total eight races on the weekend.

The long and high jumps that Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park is known for played a key role in passing and needed toughness of trucks and tires to withstand the door-to-door action as well as the impact and hard turning created at the track.

Taddy Blazusiak, the multi time GEICO AMA EnduroCross champion pressured Brown for the win until a spectacular crash on the last lap took him out of contention for the win. The Polish KTM rider remounted in third position but was passed before the finish by Webb, who had crashed on the same log double earlier in the race. Blazusiak finished fourth with Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder close behind in fifth. Kyle Redmond, Gary Sutherlin, Bobby Prochnau, Alfredo Gomez and Taylor Robert rounded out the top ten.

The 20-Lap SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks final began from a staggered start, and saw first place starter Arie Luyendyk Jr. from Scottsdale, Ariz., quickly jump out to the early lead navigating his way through the first set of turns. Iron River, Mich., driver Nick Baumgartner would waste no time working his way past the No. 25 to lead Lap-1.

GNCC-Racing-Logo-4-17-13SPRINGVILLE, Ind. (May 20, 2013) – Following some of the muddiest race conditions the series has seen in recent history, the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series experienced picture perfect weather and track conditions on Sunday for the Dunlop Limestone 100 GNCC. After three hours of intense battle, Charlie Mullins extended his points lead over the field by capturing his fourth win of the season at Round 6 of the 13-race series.

The AmPro Yamaha team got off to another great start, first with Paul Whibley securing the $250 All Balls Racing XC1 Holeshot Award and then it was Jordan Ashburn who grabbed the early lead. Ashburn held the lead through Lap 1 but it didn’t take long for the Factory FMF/KTM duo of Mullins and Kailub Russell to put themselves out front. Just when it appeared to be a two-way battle for the win, Shenandoah Honda/USWE-Sports.com’s Thad DuVall entered himself into the chase. Around the halfway mark, DuVall broke up the KTM teammates, riding in the second place position behind Russell until Mullins made the move past both riders to reclaim the lead with two laps to go.
