CR125R

Completely redesigned from the ground up, the 2000 CR125R has an all-new frame, swingarm, engine and suspension.

Features & Benefits

Exlusive Features

  • All-new second-generation twin-spar aluminum frame and swingarm offer an optimal balance of rigidity and strength for lighter, easier handling on widely varying track conditions.
  • Thoroughly upgraded engine features a Revolutionary Control (RC) exhaust valve design, providing exceptional power throughout the entire rpm range.
  • Slim new design combines with minimal bodywork to emphasize the beautiful frame and engine. A redesigned seat creates a 10-15mm-narrower profile in the seat and tank area, providing greater comfort in competition riding.

Engine

  • Liquid-cooled two-stroke single cylinder engine with 54mm bore x 54.5mm stroke and 8.8:1 compression ratio.
  • Revised characteristics now provide smoother low-end and mid-range power while providing excellent high rpm power.
  • Larger airbox has 35-percent more volume and is moved 15mm farther forward, providing better low-end response, stronger torque, and improved rideability.
  • 36mm Mikuni TMX flat-slide carburetor delivers improved bottom-end throttle response and complements the RC valve's performance for improved mid- to high-rpm rideability.
  • All-new carbon fiber reed-valve petals improve throttle response and engine performance.
  • Redesigned cylinder head features a larger water jacket for increased cooling performance.
  • Nikasil-plated cylinder reduces friction and heat to improve performance, and is 7.6 ounces lighter than the previous design.
  • Piston ring groove is anodized for added durability.
  • All-new RC exhaust valve features an NSR road racing-inspired rotary flap design that provides smoother power transition between low and mid-range engine speeds. This simple, compact exhaust valve is 7.1 ounces lighter than the HPP valve it replaces.
  • Redesigned expansion chamber enhances the engine's power output and delivery.
  • A 16-bit processor in the ignition CPU produces faster data calculation and more accurate ignition timing for the solid-state 3-D map-type digital ignition.
  • Number of clutch plates increased from seven to eight for more surface area to handle the engine's increased torque. New clutch springs provide a lighter feel at the lever.
  • New dual radiators provide 21 percent more surface area and a 19 percent improvement in heat dispersion over the previous single radiator.
  • Steel water-pump gear and steel kickstarter-shaft collar improve reliability.
  • Five-speed close-ratio transmission is durable, and combines with 13/52 final-drive gearing to match the engine's power characteristics.
  • Primary kickstarting system allows starting in any gear.

Chassis/Suspension

  • Completely new second-generation frame features smaller, lighter twin-spar aluminum construction with semi-double-cradle configuration.
  • Extruded aluminum main-frame spars are narrowed from 90mm to 80mm while retaining 30mm spar thickness, reducing torsional rigidity 25 percent and increasing lateral rigidity 10 percent to provide an ideal balance of rigidity, strength, compliance and comfort.
  • New chassis design moves frame spars lower for a narrower feel.
  • New forged aluminum steering head replaces extruded piece, providing a compact and extremely durable mounting for the frame spars and the engine downtube.
  • Semi-double-cradle design features a single, large-diameter 45mm x 50mm dual-box section downtube. Two rugged box-section rails attach to the base of the downtube and support the engine.
  • Redesigned upper and lower triple-clamps provide increased steering precision.
  • Caster angle (rake) changed from 27.0 degrees to 26.35 degrees to improve turning performance.
  • Fully adjustable Kayaba rear shock features 12.4 inches of travel and separate low-speed (8 positions) and high-speed (2 turns) compression damping adjusters. The adjusters are located together in a concentric fashion, with a screw inside a nut.
  • Cartridge-type Kayaba fork design features improved damping force transition characteristics. New design isolates the fork oil and damper oil with an air/oil separator and a unique rubber bladder lining inside the base of each fork leg to minimize aeration-induced damping force losses.
  • Inner surface of fork's outer tubes is honed to retain a thin coating of lubricating oil to reduce friction with fork bushings.
  • All-new swingarm features a dual-axis, double-taper design with a larger, cast aluminum cross-member for 25 percent greater swingarm rigidity.
  • Pro-Link“ single-shock rear suspension system offers 12.7 inches of compliant, controlled rear wheel travel.
  • Rear shock's piston diameter is increased from 46mm to 50mm for consistent performance under demanding riding conditions.
  • Redesigned Pro-Link linkage is 3.5 ounces lighter, providing a lower rate in the swingarm's initial travel and a higher rate approaching full compression for a smoother, more progressive ride.
  • Linkage mount on frame cross-brace is 10mm higher to minimize ground contact on jump landings and rough terrain.
  • Increased rear axle diameter from 20mm to 25mm and larger-diameter bearings provide a significant increase in rigidity to withstand tortuous track conditions.
  • New, compact dual-piston front brake caliper with steel pistons reduces unsprung weight by 2.8 ounces.
  • Front disc brake cover helps protect rotor and caliper from damage.
  • Large, 240mm front and rear brake rotors.
  • Front wheel features large-diameter front axle and wide wheel-bearing span for additional rigidity.
  • Lightweight hubs and solid-section rims with strong straight-pull spokes offer a high degree of durability and minimize unsprung weight.

Additional Features

  • All-new fenders, shrouds and sidecovers emphasize a clean, purposeful design.
  • Reshaped seat with softer foam is positioned closer to the reshaped fuel tank, providing a smooth transition to increase rider comfort and mobility.
  • Handlebar is rubber-mounted to reduce rider fatigue and improve comfort.
  • CR125/250 handlebar holders provide three different mounting positions: standard CR125R holder provides a 3mm rearward set and can be rotated 180 degrees to position handlebar 6mm forward. Optional CR250R holders provides neutral position to match rider preference.
  • Rear sprocket increased from 51 to 52 teeth to take advantage of engine's power delivery.
  • Removable rear subframe allows easy maintenance.
  • Washable, two-stage foam air filter for optimal engine protection and easy maintenance.
  • Repackable silencer for maximum performance and minimal noise.
  • Lightweight, rugged chain guide and lower chain roller for maximum durability.
  • Comfortable, durable controls and high-quality fasteners.
  • Adjustable front brake lever.
  • Stainless steel clutch cable forlong life.
  • Wide, cleated cast stainless steel footpegs are self-cleaning, resist corrosion, provide excellent grip and fold for extra ground clearance.
  • Cleated rear brake pedal and folding shift lever tip.
  • Ownership includes one-year complimentary Membership in the Honda Rider's Club of America. Benefits include discounts, travel benefits, roadside assistance and much more. For HRCA details, call 1-800-847-HRCA.
