BFGoodrich-Logo-2-19-13GREENVILLE, S.C. ― BFGoodrich Tires, the brand that created the first radial all-terrain tire in 1976 and has proven its off-road racing mettle with victories around the globe, is set to return to its rich history of winning at the 2017 Dakar Rally as the official tire supplier of the Dakar Rally.

When the Dakar Rally kicks off in Asunción, Paraguay, in January, BFGoodrich Tires will be back on competitors’ vehicles on a large scale for the first time since 2012. In addition BFGoodrich will roll out the BFGoodrich Dakar Service Center, through which competitors will benefit from 24/7 technical expertise. The rugged terrain and unpredictable elements that racers face over two weeks and more than 5,000 miles of punishing competition across three countries is exactly the sort of proving ground that BFGoodrich seeks.

It’ll be easy to an easy point to miss so we’ll put it right up front: The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be more fuel efficient than the previous generation – and 23 percent more efficient at that! OK, while that’s all true, we’re sort of kidding about putting that up front because the real headline most care about is the performance numbers of the new Raptor’s twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost V6, which need to be impressive since the new engine is replacing the outgoing 6.2-liter V8. Fortunately they are, and any concern in regards to performance should be laid to rest with the claimed 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. rating of the new Raptor.

It’s a different approach than we’re used to, especially in the truck market, but Chevrolet isn’t looking to be the loudest, toughest kid on the block. In fact, while toughness is vitally important to its truck line, it isn’t aiming to be the loudest boaster of all the truck makers – it’s actually aiming to be the smartest by focusing on the heart of the market. That’s the goal with its new 2017 Silverado HD, and specifically the new fifth-generation Duramax L5P engine that powers it. Chevrolet feels its heavy-duty trucks are focused on the core of the market and improving the experience for the masses. It’s not worried about having the biggest headline grabbing numbers.
