Bell Helmets has teamed up with seven-time Supercross champ Jeremy McGrath to create one of the year’s coolest helmets. Part of their MX-9 lineup, this Monster Energy themed lid is a great-looking Showtime replica.
Bell says they will have several other collaborations and designs releasing throughout the summer. If this helmet is any indication, there are going to be some dandies from which to choose. This unit, finished primarily in black and green, has some great shading and color details included in its all-over design.
The MX-9 line of helmets are built for the dirty and tough off-road world. When chunks of rock and dirt are launched by roosting tires, you need a lid that’ll stand up to abuse. Even when it is muddy, hitting the ground is always hard. The MX-9 helmets are loaded up with a tough polycarbonate shell, MIPS energy management system, and an adjustable visor. Bring yer own goggles. Bell has designed a Velocity Flow ventilation and a removable, anti-microbial liner that can be chucked in the wash when it’s time to hose down.
MIPS, by the way, stands for Multi-directional Impact System which is a slip-plane technology baked into this type of helmet. It’s designed to reduce rotational forces on your noggin that can result from certain types of impacts. #TheMoreYouKnow
This Jeremy McGrath edition retails on the Bell site for $179.95, a $20 premium over most other MX-9 helmets and is available in seven different sizes to fit even the meatiest lunkhead.
