Gary Boyes 1887 From abbotsford british columbia. My 4-runner its powered by a 22-re and breathes through a k-n filter. It has a centerforce 2 clutch , 4:88 gears with a lockright in and back. Rancho torsion bars and a lock right in the front are in its near future

Eric Zite 1986 1986 SR5 model complete with every factory option including the clinometer. It has the stock 22-RE motor with Splitfire Wires all breathing through a K&N filter, and exhaling through a Flowmaster exhaust. The truck now sports 32"x11.5"x15" BFG mud terrains on 15"x8"  American Racing 767 wheels. The rear end is supported by Downey 2" lift springs with an addleaf, and cushioned by 10" Travel Doetsch Tech shocks. The front end has Low profile bump stops with the Sway bar removed for extra travel. Accessories include a Downey Truss, Smittybuilt nerf's and rear bumper, and Con-Ferr roof rack. Still running stock gears and open differentials, but not for long.

Roger Brown's 1985 Roger's 1985 4Runner SR5 has a 2.5" custom suspension and 1" body lift, 33x9.50-15 BFG Mud Terrain tires (pictured), Detroit Soft Locker in the rear, TrueTrac up front, driven by 5.29 gears and a Marlin Ultimate Crawler for a 224:1 crawl ratio.  The picture was taken during a trip to the Rubicon. John Skaggs's 1985 John Skaggs's 1985 John's 85 4Runner has a L.C. Engineering Street Performer engine that inhales through a K&N air filter and exhales through a L.C. Engineering Header to a 2 1/2" exhaust with a Magna Flow muffler singing a nice tune. The engine is connected to the 5 speed transmission through a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Before the power hits the ground it is routed through a Marlin Crawler Ultimate Transfer case combination consisting of Dual boxes one containing 4.70:1 gears. His 4Runner is supported by 5" Alcan Springs front and rear with 13" travel Doestch tech's in front and 13" travel RS 9000's in the rear to clear the 33x12.50x15 Big-O M/T's, the larger tires are halted by 4 wheel disc brakes. A clinometer, altimeter package was stripped out of a dead 4 Runner and installed on the dash so he can tell how bad the pucker factor is. Gears and lockers are in the near future.
Ann Finger's 1985 Ann Finger's 1985 Ann's sharp 1985 4Runner has a 5-inch Skyjacker Softride suspension lift, 33/12.50/15 BFG Mud Terrain Tires, Lockrite in the rear, 5.29 gears, and an 8ft CB antenna. She reupholstered the interior door panels and back seat side panels herself. She has lots of plans for this truck in the future, including a V6 transplant. The picture was taken in Moab, Utah.
Oskar Erlingsson's 1988 Oskar Erlingsson's 1988 Oskar's 4Runner features a 22RE engine, 5 speed transmission, 5.29 gears in the differentials with a Detroit Locker in the rear, a 4" body lift to clear his 35" BFG tires on 10" wide rims. He has also added some fender flares, a CB radio, and a Garmin 120 GPS. He lives in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Josh Little's 1986 Josh Little's 1986 Josh's modifications on his 4Runner include a 2" lift from Northwest Off-Road Specialties (torsion bars and 2" rear springs), Trailmaster shocks, BFG Mud Terrain tires in size 31/12.50/15 on 15x10 American Racing rims, a K&N filter, a Centerforce Clutch, and Splitfire plugs, as well as various cosmetic accesories like lights and nerf bars.
Chris Lewis's 1984 Chris Lewis's 1984 Chris's rig has a 3Y Petrol motor, Benbar on the front, Hella 55w spotlights, double fuel tanks totalling 120 litres, and (not shown in the photo) a roof top tent, and rides on Firestone 31x10.5 tires (or is it tyres? :) The rig is about to be tested as he is off to Namibia in December and expect to cover about 5000 miles.
Ryker Haselden's 1989 Ryker's rig sports dual exhaust, split after the cat, with no mufflers. Some of his other upgrades are the rear spare tire carrier, 31" mud terrains, Warn brush/ grille guard with 4 off-road lights, and security system. Future mods inlude shocks, and a 4-5" lift.
Andrew Matchim's 1988 Andrew Matchim's 1988 Andrew's rig is (so far) mostly stock, but he has installed a Uniden CB and a Sony stereo. He plans to make some suspension and engine modifications in the future. Check out the cool paint job!
Steve Hunt's 1986 Steve Hunt's 1986 Steve's truck has a 22RE breathing through a Tri-Y header and a K&N Filter. Amsoil is keeping things slick in the engine and tranny. The 32" BFGs are being driven by 4.88 gears front and back with Detroit Lockers in both pumpkins. All this sits under a Explorer 4" lift with Add-a-leafs in the rear to remove the sag. Tom Chartrand's 1986 Tom Chartrand's 1986 Tom's rig is completely stock, but he says he would love some suggestions on moderately priced modifications he can do to improve engine performance. One thing he plans to do is to correct the rear-end sagging.
Mark Hansen's 87 Mark Hansen's 1987 Mark's truck has a 22RE inhaling through a K&N air filter, and exhaling through a stainless cat-back exhaust system . His 31" BFG tires are damped by Rancho RS5000 shocks. Rancho add-a-leafs prop up his rear end. He lives in San Jose, CA.
Chuck's 1985 4Runner Chuck Schladenhauffen's 1985 This truck is so tricked out we can't list all the modifications here! Notable are the 33" tires powered by 4.88 gears running LockRites in both axles and the 8000lb Warn winch riding in a Smittybuilt bumper. Under the hood is a header and a 140 amp alternator to supply juice to his six Hella 210 off-road lights. While in Germany for the US Army, Chuck competed in the Hanau Mud Races and in the 1995 Hessen Cup, where he took fourth place in Class 5. The latest updates are on his web page.
Mike's 1989 4Runner Mike Sveda's 1989 Mike has a TJM T-17 bumper in front, which houses a Warn winch. In the rear axle is a strong Detroit locker differential. Under the hood is a 22RE engine, pushing a 5-speed transmission. He has a Lock-Right front differential, and he rides on 32x11.50 TSL/SX tires. He has a nice web page with many more pictures.
Scott's 4Runner Scott Wilson's 1988 Scott's 1988 SR5 V6 5spd has every option but the clinometer. It was mostly stock when it first appeared here, but now it sports Rancho 5000 shocks, a K&N Air Filter, polyurethane bushings everywhere, extended shackles in the rear, and a Detroit Locker in the rear differential. 1987 4Runner Eric Johnson's 1987 My 1987 has the 22RE engine and A340H 4-speed overdrive auto transmission. Hella Vision Plus headlights keep me visible in the nasty weather which is common where I live and wheel near Seattle. I recently installed 4.88 gears and Detroit Truetracs in each differential. Low profile bump stops in the front give a little more suspension travel. Electronics include a Garmin GPS II, a Realistic CB, an alarm, and a Jensen CD Player. Troy's 1985 Hawaii 4Runner Troy Williams's 1985 Troy lives in Kauai, Hawaii, and drives daily from sea level up to over 4,000 feet elevation. He runs 30" tires and has the 22RE engine, but plans to put on a set of 31" 10.5's as soon as the current tires wear out. Modifications include a Header, K&N air filter, and the Jacobs Omni Team Ignition.
