The Shootin Iron

Online Shooters Publication

If you spend much time at the range at all, you are familiar with the pleasures of getting all of your garb to and from the range. If you're like me, you normally take at least three pistols and all of the associated ammo on top of your normal range gear. What this normally means is that you end up carting three or four bags, boxes, cartons or whatever between the house and the car, the car and the bench and back again.

I am naturally a light packer. Therefore, I always end up at the range without something I need that I forgot to put in one bag or another. I simply cant get there with less than three bags of stuff. The ammo bag, the gun bag and the range box.

After years of this frustration, I finally said, "enough is enough". I contacted Bagmaster to see what they had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised at their selection of possible bags. Bagmaster makes a wide array of bags and pouches for just about everything. They are now also online at Bagmaster.com, where you can find a complete listing of their products and specifications.

After discussing options with Rich Kupferer, he sent their Pro-Shooter's Bag Large Deluxe and Extra-Large for me to check out. I really liked the Extra-Large bag but quickly decided that I could not carry it fully loaded (I pack for density). The Large Deluxe really fit the bill. It is a bag in bag design that allows for a wide array of item storage. I have included the specifications on both bags below.

I took a while to familiarize myself with the components of the bag and get stuff transferred over from both my gun case and my ammo box. Since I was carrying ammo I decided not to use the inner bag. Even so, there was plenty of room to put three large frame, 5-6 inch barrel revolvers in with all of the ammo I planned to use and a home made shooting stand. The additional side pockets were perfect for my ear muff's, glasses, shooting glove and other assorted have to haves. The bag was heavy but not unmanageable. This is where its heavy construction and handle design really becomes a plus. I have often wondered just when the handle on my ammo box would go I would spend the next hour picking up ammo off the ground. The Cordura? nylon handle wraps makes this virtually impossible. Since the inner bag also has handles, should I find a need to carry more stuff, I could always carry it along as a second bag. This feature really makes this bag a great value. The last, and possibly one of the best features of all Bagmaster bags is their lifetime guarantee.

All Bagmaster Mfg. Inc. products are made in America by American Craftsmen. This allows us to offer the following Lifetime Guarantee to the original product purchaser: If this product fails due to defects in materials or workmanship, Bagmaster will repair or replace it at our option. Trips to the range have become much less of a hassle now. The Bagmaster's Pro-Shooters bag should be on everybody's list of "have to haves"!
