1990 KTM 250 MX/C

KTM delivered a completely new 250 enduro bike for 1990. It came with the kickstarter located on the right hand side.

Power: The KTM 250 EX/C engine pumped out very smooth and tractable low and mid-range power. The engine?s power production was nearly electric. It contained no power "hit". Power was made through the entire RPM range. The KTM 250 could wind its way through slow and slippery section very adeptly. It could rev out well enough so it could be kept moving very quickly in open areas. The engine power was very enduro oriented and very versatile.

Suspension: The forks and rear suspension would handle the little rocks, roots, small and medium bumps very smoothly. The KTM?s suspension could handle huge bumps and jumps moderately well. The suspension would bottom on big stuff.

Handling: The EX/C was a good turning machine and was reasonably stable at high speeds. The machine?s layout was fairly comfortable for most riders. Taller riders were cramped on the machine.

Reliability: The KTM was a reliable bike that wore very well. Beware though! Early models had bad pistons and ignitions.

Odds & Ends: KTM still had some odd transmission gear ratios that made the bike a bit weird to ride. Placing a larger rear sprocket nearly cured this. The suspension was not well set up for high speed riding. Other than these two curable blemishes, the ?90 KTM 250 EX/C is a very desirable woods and trail/play bike that still is enduro competitive today!
