Class 25: Adolfo Arellano, Wayne Matlock, Wes Miller, Roberto Villalobos
(Pro ATVs, 450cc or more)
Race Time: 21:55:23 (40.3 mph)

Only two teams finished in Pro ATV Class 25, and it was the 9a of Adolfo Arellano, Wayne Matlock, Wes Miller and Roberto Villalobos who earned the win. Matlock discussed the team’s day after the race, which was not without its struggles but one that ended in victory. “It was gas and go most of the day but we had to do a little filter maintenance,” he said. “Roberto ran out of gas and the silt and dust was so bad it got into our filters, and we used a lot more gas than we thought. He ran out of gas twice. At mile 385 we had a six-minute lead and that was the last time we saw our competition.”

Class 24: Juan Dominguez, Alonzo Dominguez, Gliberto Perez, David Scott, Travis Dillon
(Pro ATVs, 450cc or less)
Race Time: 24:16:10 (34.6 mph)

Amazingly, all seven of the starters finished this year’s Baja 1000 in Class 24. That only made it tougher for the five-person team on the 109a ATV, which included Juan Dominguez, Alonzo Dominguez, Gliberto Perez, David Scott and Travis Dillon. The team completed the race in just over 24 hours with an average time of 34.6 mph.

“We had two flats near the end of the race and that was pretty much it,” Juan Dominguez said. “It was beautiful scenery out there. Thank God the bike came out in one piece, and two months of hard work paid off building that machine.”

Class 26: Michael Swift
(Limited Utility ATV)
Race Time: 33:32:12

After 33 hours, 32 minutes and 12 seconds, Michael Swift rode his 207a “limited utility ATV” to the class win – won in which he earned by piloting his machine for the entire race. “My race went flawlessly and I didn't get dismounted,” Swift said.” The machine ran well but we burned a little time that we probably didn't have to by stopping, eating and changing clothes. We had the time so we thought it was important to do that to make sure we got to the finish. I was doing fine until about 4 a.m. when I started wearing down.”

The Sportsman Buggy class winner was the team of Richard Freschet and Phil Speet, who finished the race in 30 hours, 54 minutes and 14 seconds. Sportsman Motorcycle (450cc or less) was won by the team of Mark Winkelman, Ricky De la Pena, Paul Lopez and Austin Miller, who finished the race in 26 hours, 1 minute and 59 seconds. Sportsman Motorcycle (450cc or more) was won by the duo of Fernando Beltran and Emmanuel Verdugo, who finished the race in 25 hours, 42, minutes and 58 seconds. The Sportsman ATV class was won by the 52a vehicle of Martin Munoz, Daniel Katsurayama and Benjamin Juarez, who finished the race in 28 hours, 1 minute and 46 seconds.
