CRANDON, WI -- Doug Davis has been named president & general manager of the new Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR). The WSORR begins hosting a full slate of national race events in the 2007 season.

Davis brings a wealth of motorsports experience to the position with an extensive background in IndyCar, Formula One and Off-Road racing. For the last 11 years, he has been the promoter at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, known as the "Super Bowl" or "Daytona 500" for it's role in professional off-road racing circles. "What Doug does is deliver. That is what he has done for us at Crandon," says Crandon Raceway President Cliff Flannery. "He has taken the tradition of our track and small community and built our races into world class events and the biggest must-see venue on the off-road calendar. We expect him to do the same thing with the new World Series," added Flannery.

Prior to entering off-road racing, Davis was the V.P. - Communications & Public Relations at BorgWarner Automotive, which made him an integral part of the annual presentation of the the most famous trophy in motorsports, the BorgWarner Indy 500 trophy. That tradition followed him to Crandon Raceway as the $125,000 sterling silver and gold BorgWarner Cup is presented annually during the "BorgWarner Shootout" as part of the Labor Day weekend off-road World Championships.

Davis' resume in the automotive industry and in motorsports includes domestic and overseas executive positions at both General Motors and United Technologies Corporation, including Carrier International Corporation . He has been a regular monthly columnist for the former Petersen's "4x4 Power" Magazine. Davis began his career as a sports writer before entering the auto industry as editor of GMC Truck Division's "Truck News" publication.

Davis, a native of Dearborn, MI, is graduate of Alma College, a Division III college in Alma, MI. He is member of the Automotive Press Association. "Doug has been on both sides of the fence," said Flannery. "He has been a sponsor but also a promoter and knows where the two can intersect at the highest levels to achieve success," he said.

As president and general manager, Davis will be responsible for World Series of Off-Road Racing sponsor relations and marketing, strategic planning and growth, business development, and the day-to-day management of the Series. "I've never enjoyed myself more than working with the Midwest off-road community and am looking forward to representing this country's most talented group of off-road racers," he said. "We will be announcing a team to bring this sport, its sponsors, and Series the growth and national spotlight it deserves."

The Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing has established itself as a national short course racing series with a three-year prime time SPEED Network television package through the 2009 season. In addition to the three-year Lucas Oil title sponsorship, the Forest County Potawatomi Community -- one of the most prosperous and respected Native American tribes in the Nation and a long-time supporter of the sport -- will receive additional WSORR presenting rights as part of a major sponsorship package designed to boost race purses and promote events.

Davis will also chair a WSORR Series Advisory Council, comprised of key sponsors associated with off-road racing and the Series. "We appreciate the strong long-term foundation and trust of both Lucas Oil and the Forest County Potawatomi for the World Series," said Davis. "It is a privilege to be a associated with both of these supporters and we look forward to working with them in continuing more than 30 years of off-road racing in the Midwest and beyond," he said. "We will be putting the interest of the sport first and foremost. We are off-road racing. That is all we do," he said.
