Desert Assassins win Dash.......

Jan. 01, 2006 By ORC STAFF

For Immediate Release

Desert Assassins drivers Brian Burgess and Cameron Steele team up in the Lake Elsinore Casino 1600 car to win the Bud Light Dash in Plaster City New Years Eve day.

After and enormous amount of smack talk on the internet and an overall purse of over $12,000 dollars on the line, thanks to companies getting revved up through the internet talk, 27 cars showed up to bang and exchange paint in the low desert.

This was the first ever driving team up for Burgess A.K.A. ‘Cheater’ and Steel who runs the moniker P.A.B., earned in his former FMX days. The two have spent many years racing and share a similar plight in the fact that this year Brian missed the overall SCORE title and 1600 class by just a few points and in 1991 Cameron felt the same pain loosing the championship at the Baja 1000.

With the driver that beat the Burgess team this year, Caleb Gaddis, racing in Plaster City it seemed as good a time for a grudge match as any so the DA crew entered the race and promptly put up $500.00 of their own cash to try and attract more teams. Caleb followed suit and prior to this $1000.00 Alumicraft and MDR had posted $2,500 in bonuses for the 1600s. This was getting good and the Lake Elsinore Casino posted a $1,000.00 side bet against anyone’s $250 that the Desert Assassins crew would win, yeah no added pressure or anything….

As it turned out McKenzie’s Performance Products, KARTEK, and Off Road Warehouse would also get involved with bonuses as would Penhall Fabrication, Motion Tire, and Advanced Wireless, a Scaroni company and the $$$ were getting pumped up.

With all the trash talk, led much by the Desert Assassins, drivers were pushing the 1600 limits and more than a couple of fast teams would do some roof testing in Plaster City.

Overall the race attracted more than 100 entries including the Desert Assassins Trophy Truck #16 which was doing durability testing leading into The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge as was the Scaroni’s #27.

In the end the Lake Elsinore Casino 1600 car prepped and built by Source Prep and Fabrication’s ‘Anal’ Ronnie would walk away the winners. The team looks forward to taking the year end momentum, this win along with ‘Pistol’ Pete Sohren’s Terribles Trophy Truck win and Jesse Jones Best in the Desert Championship and continue the stomping throughout 2006.

Next up for the Desert Assassins is the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge where Clyde, Jesse, Pistol and PAB will rock the SCORE Trophy Truck class and Cheater and PAB will face off in separate cars in the 1600 class, rounding it out PAB will make his third class of the event in the Score Lites.
