Valcourt, Québec – BCS Performance / Can-Am® X-Team racer Josh Creamer won the Pro and Pro-Am classes at round two of the 2012 New England ATV Motocross (NEATV-MX) series. In Can-Am / Grand National Cross Country racing action, five Can-Am racers won their classes this past weekend at the inaugural Can-Am Mammoth GNCC event held in Kentucky.

“Josh Creamer continued his Pro and Pro-Am class dominance by winning in the sandy Southwick soil aboard his DS 450. I was thrilled to see Richard Pelchat have such a great showing, challenge Josh and give us two riders on both the Pro and Pro-Am class podiums,” stated Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “In GNCC action, our morning Can-Am 4×4 racers keep impressing us with their convincing wins. To have Bryan Buckhannon, Cliff Beasley, Kevin Trantham and Forrest Whorton post victories, and to do it on the brand new Mammoth course, shows a lot of dedication, drive and focus. Unfortunately a badly bent sprocket literally derailed Chris Bithell’s chance to shine in Kentucky, but he’ll be back at round six ready to challenge for the XC1 Pro class overall.”

Valcourt, Québec – Can-Am X-Team racers Derek and Jason Murray piloted their Murray Motorsports / Can-Am Commander 1000 X to the UTV class victory in the 2012 Best In The Desert Mint 400 race in Las Vegas, Nev. Driving the Can-Am X-Team-supported Desert Toyz Commander 1000, racer Cory Sappington finished second and joined the Murrays on the UTV class podium. The Mint 400, dubbed the single largest off-road event in the United States, allowed side-by-side vehicles to compete along side the automotive field for the first time in the history of the race.

“I just couldn’t be more proud of our guys and the way they each drove their Can-Am Commander side-by-sides in these gruelling conditions,” stated Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “It was definitely a historic weekend of desert racing for Can-Am, the Commander 1000 and our X-Team racers. The Murrays and Sappington’s team deserve a lot of credit for all their hard work and dedication that they each put into preparing their machines and for putting the Commander on the top two spots of podium in the first ever Mint 400 UTV race.”

Murray Motorsports, winners of two of the last three BITD UTV class races, started 18th out of 30 competitors. However, the team kept pushing forward, picking competitors off one by one. With 10 miles remaining, they caught Sappington and raced ahead for the class overall, becoming the first side-by-side and Can-Am Commander 1000 to cross the Mint 400 finish line. The Murrays finished in 4:38.58, roughly five minutes ahead of the second place team of Sappington and co-pilot Jim Sharp. The two Commander racing teams finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the overall Mint 400 two-lap race standings.

We had absolutely no issues with our Can-am Commander 1000,” said Derek Murray. “The organizers really treated all the UTV finishers like kings, as we were recognized on stage with our award for the UTV class overall immediately after Robby Gordon was presented his for the Pro truck overall.”

Team Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450™ EFI racer Chris Bithell is third in the XC1 Pro class points after two rounds. Can-Am X-Team racer Bryan Buckhannon dominated both 4×4 Open class races aboard his Outlander™ 800R. Cliff Beasley also posted two consecutive class wins on the Renegade® 800R 4×4.

Lima, Peru, January 24, 2012 — BRP’s Can-Am ATV and side-by-side teams reached their respective class podiums in the 34th edition of the most famous rally in the world, the Dakar Rally.

This year’s edition, noted by some as “the most challenging Dakar thus far,” kicked off in Mar del Plata-Argentina, leading 30 hopeful ATV racers through approximately 9,000 kilometers (5,592 miles) of unparalleled terrains across Argentina, Chile, and finally, Peru. Only 11 teams crossed the coveted finish line, among them BRP racers Daniel Mazzucco, Barry Cruces and Petar Cenkov (Team Rally Raid / Can-Am), who finished first, second and third in the 4×4 Quad category.

“Out of my three Dakar participations, this was without a doubt the toughest,” Argentinean pilot Mazzucco (Team AGO-MD / Can-Am) declared upon receiving his first-place trophy. “The ATV performed extremely well … the Renegades filled the podium on the 4×4, which was a great result! I also must commend my technical support team for providing excellent support and assistance.”

Valcourt, Québec, December 22, 2011 – BRP will provide nearly US $1.8 million to support its industry-leading Can-Am® ATV and Side-By-Side Racing Contingency Program for the 2012 racing season. BRP has added more regional racing series as well as improved the contingency program for select Can-Am ATV and all Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicle racers for 2012. Racers who compete on Can-Am ATVs and side-by-side vehicles in both Canada and the United States are eligible for a cash payout through the program for the upcoming racing season.

“We remain dedicated in our support of both professional and amateur Can-Am ATV and side-by-side vehicle racers,” said Denis Morin, vice-president, Product Development & Racing at BRP. “Our class-leading contingency program is essential for rewarding those racers who choose to compete on our products and be part of the Can-Am family. Racing is deeply rooted in our heritage and serves as an integral resource for furthering product development and innovation.”

Participating racers who compete in an approved racing series aboard the Can-Am DS 450, Can-Am Outlander or Can-Am Renegade lines of ATVs and the Can-Am Commander line of side-by-side vehicles can be eligible for the cash payout. Racers, who meet the terms of the contingency program, will be awarded cash payouts in the amount earned based on a racer’s overall finish at a qualifying event and be mailed directly to the participant or the legal guardian. Additional contingency will also be awarded to racers who secure a class championship at the end of the season.

For 2012, the revised Can-Am 4×4 Contingency Program includes more models and rebates for eligible participants. The program starts immediately and includes all new or unused 2010, 2011 and 2012 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATVs, and all 2011 and 2012 new or unused Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles. Benefits of the program include a $1000 factory discount on all eligible ATV models and a $1500 factory discount on all eligible side-by-sides. Racers can qualify for model rebates by purchasing a qualifying ATV or SxS, register with an authorized Can-Am dealer and then compete in their local series or a nationally recognized racing circuit. However, the number of vehicles eligible for the program is limited and once BRP reaches that number, the program will end.

Amateur racers who compete aboard the Can-Am DS 450 EFI ATV will also continue to have unprecedented access to factory racing support with the new Can-Am X-Team DS 450 Racer Support Program and more racing series to choose from in 2012. Once the amateur racer applies with any authorized Can-Am dealer and is approved, he or she can receive factory support no matter the race series and no matter the class.

All approved Can-Am X-Team DS 450 racers will receive a one-year Can-Am X-Team membership card and a unique racer ID, which also grants them access to a $2,000 racer discount on any new or unused DS 450. Can-Am X-Team racing members will also receive a FREE Can-Am X-Team / Motoworks Stage 1 Racing Kit (up to a $1,000 value). This factory-developed racing kit includes a racing Engine Control Module, Motoworks SR4 aluminum slip-on silencer and other race-proven items. The Stage 1 Racing Kit increases the DS 450 ATV’s crank horsepower to 50 hp – an improvement of 11 percent over stock – and improves low-end torque.

Approved racers will also be issued a $1,000 Can-Am X-Team parts, accessories and clothing account with BRP. Specific performance parts will also be discounted up to 75 percent off MSRP for approved racers. Race-tested and approved parts include, FOX Racing Shox, 50-inch widening kits or other performance packages for specific racing applications (aside from the X mx and X xc DS 450 models).

The 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is nearly in the record books. SCORE officials say 278 racers took the starting line for the 44^th running of the 1000. Although race results are unofficial pending SCORE data tracking review, racers for many of the premiere classes have already crossed the finish line.

Andy and Scott McMillin earned the overall four-wheel win and Trophy Truck victory with a time of 14:51:36 (hours, minutes, seconds), holding off the first Trophy Truck team of Nick Vanderwey, Larry Vanderwey and Curt LeDuc off on corrected time by 1 minute, 35 seconds in second place. Finishing in third place, and earning the SCORE Trophy Truck Championship for the 2011 season, is Bryce Menzies, who drove with Ricky Johnson for the race. Menzies and Johnson finished 2 minutes, 27 seconds behind Vanderwey.

Finishing first in Class 1 and earning the SCORE season championship at the same time was the 149 Green Army Motorsports buggy of Justin Davis, who finished 10^th overall with a time of 16:17:55. Ronny Wilson earned second place finishing just under 10 minutes behind Davis at 16:27:31. Third place in class went o Brian Parkhouse with a time of 17:16:13.

Morocco, Africa – BRP’s Can-Am Commander SxS, driven by Francisco Lopez and co-pilot Claudio Troncoso, won the Morocco Rally in the UTV category after covering 2,000 kilometres of challenging African terrains. The duo made international headlines last week due to their impressive finish in the Morocco Rally, becoming the only SxS competitor to complete the six gruelling stages of the 2011 edition, in addition to placing 21st within the car category.

Lopez and his Can-Am Nextel Team attributed their victory to the pilots’ experience, the Can-Am Commander SxS’s outstanding performance, and the unwavering support of Jaton Racing, a Spanish company that prepared the side-by-side vehicle for the race, and provided mechanical assistance through its duration.

“Our starting objective for the race was clear: test the Can-Am Commander SxS’s capacity in difficult terrains to ensure a solid performance in the 2012 Dakar. We weren’t aspiring to win,” Lopez commented after the race. “By the last day, we had a new objective: become the first SxS vehicle in the history of the UTV class to finish the Morocco Rally.”

The Can-Am Nextel Team, who drew substantial media attention during its first appearance in the 2011 Dakar, set their sights on the Moroccan desert in early 2011. The purpose was to learn from BRP’s Can-Am Commander SxS’s performance in a rally that would allow them to adapt the unit and ensure a victorious 2012 Dakar appearance in the UTV category.
