Powersports ATV Tour Revises Open Amateur MX Class to Include Non-Production and Hybrid ATVs

May. 12, 2006 By Press Release
WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (May 12, 2006) — The WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour revised its rules governing its QuadMX Series’ Class 10: Open Amateur to include non-production ATVs. The move will allow riders with so-called “hybrid” and non-production ATVs to compete with the Tour, beginning
with next weekend’s season opener (May 20-21), the ITP Daniel Boone ATV Championship at Daniel Boone MX in London, Ky.

The class will still feature a 91cc to an unlimited engine displacement. Both two- and four-stroke engines are allowed. It will remain an amateur class.

“We have received a lot of feedback, asking us to allow non-production ATVs to compete on the PowerSports ATV Championship Tour,” said Tour Director Tes Sewell. “This revision will allow this large and diverse group of racers to compete with some of North America’s top ATV riders. We think this is
another move in the right direction.”

Additionally, two QuadTerrain Challenge classes have been renamed to better reflect their rules. Class 20 will now be know as QuadTerrain Open and Class 21 will be called QuadTerrain Superlite. Both remain amateur classes. QuadTerrain Pro-Am Unlimited and the Pro Stock classes remain unchanged.

Pre-registration for ITP Daniel Boone ATV Championship is open now. Please visit PowerSportsTour.com for more information.
