Last month’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno” the Long Way presented by FOX saw a record entry of over 342 competitors taking on the famed long distance endurance race. Now racers will have to shift their driving styles and strategies as they switch from the longest off-road race on the Best In The Desert 2016 schedule, to the all-out sprint race of the BlueWater Desert Challenge presented by Polaris RZR, October 6-9.

– Trail Hero, presented by CargoGlide, is an off-road rock sports event benefiting the Utah Public Lands Alliance (UPLA) for one reason, and one reason alone: To keep our public lands accessible to the public. Sand Mountain OHV Area is in danger of closing if the BLM moves forward with a land swap. The new owner has plans to develop Sand Mountain Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA). His current property has the Mojave desert tortoise inhabiting it, which is an endangered species, and the BLM want to protect the tortoise. Sand Mountain SRMA is where Trail Hero will take place October 5 – 8, 2016.

– Yokohama Tire Corporation is welcoming fall with a national mail-in rebate promotion: Autumn Escape. From October 1 through October 31, consumers will receive a $60 Yokohama Visa Prepaid card after purchasing a set of four select Yokohama tires.

It appears that a United Automobile Workers (UAW) representative may have spilled the beans on Ford’s plans for the rumored Ranger and Bronco return. The news is being reported now by multiple outlets, but the initial word broke during an interview for the Detroit Free Press when a UAW regional boss noted that the Ford Ranger and Bronco would be produced at the Wayne, Michigan, plant.

To kickoff the start of production at the new FCA Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco, the next-generation Compass was unveiled to the world last week at a press conference in Brazil.

SCORE-Baja-1000-49th-9-12-16POMONA, Calif., USA — Another radically rugged race route of approximately 830 miles for the granddaddy of all desert races was unveiled Saturday at the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 5 at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.

The season finale of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship is expecting nearly 250 entries, from 25 countries and 40 U.S. States to compete in classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads in this year’s 49th annual SCORE Baja 1000. The race week festivities will cover Nov. 16-20, with the race and all side events starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

– TreadWright Tires recently announced a partnership with the Expeditionary Veterans Association (EVA) to provide tires for recreational and therapeutic outdoor excursions for veterans.  The partnership will see the Houston-based tire manufacturer provide tires to help transport veterans to outdoor activities hosted by the EVA in an effort to provide therapeutic recreation and outreach. The EVA and Treadwright are partnering to ensure veterans and active service members have programs available to assist them in their progression of their Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) therapy and transition into civilian life.
