At a press event today at the Texas Motor Speedway, Chevrolet announced the performance numbers for its new L5P Duramax diesel engine for its HD trucks. The new diesel engine will produce 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque.
Chevy says its new fifth-generation Duramax power plant will provide an increase of 19 percent more torque than the previous generation, 12 percent more horsepower and 35 percent fewer emissions.
