SCORE-Logo-12-5-11SAN DIEGO, USA — BFGoodrich Tires, Carlos ‘Apdaly’ Lopez, Frank DeAngelo and brothers Jeff and Rick Geiser were among the major winners Saturday night as SCORE International officially concluded the 2016 SCORE World Desert Champioship with the annual SCORE Awards Night gala at the SCORE Tech facility in El Cajon, Calif., approximately 15 miles east of San Diego.

SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year awards were presented in 14 categories along with the 31 winners of the Red Kap SCORE Milestone Awards as well as the overall and class point champions of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship. Also honored for the first time were the nine winners of the SCORE Triple Crown of Baja, presented by BFGoodrich Tires.

While we’re all about seeing how deep you can take your rig without getting stuck, seeing this Toyota Hilux diesel going through so much water and thinking about the water that’s likely inside the cab, it almost makes us shed a tear.  Hopefully they had it sealed up well! At least they do have a snorkel…

With a sad heart, Best in the Desert announces the passing of our leader on January 12, 2017. Casey Folks suffered a massive stroke on the morning of January 7th in Parker, Arizona. He was doing what he loved, living his passion for off-road racing, getting ready to drop the flag on the latest UTV race event.  He was rushed to a hospital and transported by air to Las Vegas for care. Despite efforts by the best doctors in Las Vegas, Casey succumbed to the effect of a stroke this morning.

FCA US intends to work with the incoming administration to present its case and resolve this matter fairly and equitably and to assure the EPA and FCA US customers that the company’s diesel-powered vehicles meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
