Lovell-off-road-crandon-9-3-13Crandon, WI (Sept 3, 2013) — The Big House was as big as it has ever been this past weekend with sellout crowds and an overflowing pit. 24 of the best pro-light drivers raced for the chance to stand atop the podium at this Superbowl of off-road racing. In driver Brad Lovell’s own words:

This is weekend was no doubt the biggest and most competitive pro-light race we have entered and a chance to prove ourselves against the best in all of short course. We were desperate to get in the invert during qualifying to get a good position for the land rush start. We barely managed that by qualifying 6th which put us right where we wanted to be.

Troy-Retzlaff-Crandon-9-3-13Crandon, WI – The B & L Sand Toys Sportsman Trophy Race had four different Sportsman Truck divisions competing for nearly fourteen thousand dollars in cash and products. The eight lap sprint was the featured race of the Forest County Potawatomi Friday Night Thunder program during the opening day festivities the Labor Day Weekend Crandon Off-Road World Championships. The field of Sport 4, Formula 4×4, Super Truck, and Super Stock racers set a blistering pace as Troy Retzlaff in his Super Truck raced through much of the field to win the inaugural event.

The eight lap event saw the three groups of racers lined up for the infamous land rush start as the Super Stock Trucks had thirty five second head start on the Formula 4×4/Super Truck group and the faster Sport 4 trucks left the line another forty seconds later.

Luke-Johnson-TORC-Buggy-7-25-13Things just keep getting better for Luke Johnson in his PEAK Motor Oil Red Bull Undead Power #14 Pro Buggy.  After five straight wins to open the 2013 Traxxas TORC Series and his first career win at “The Big House” in Crandon, WI, Luke traveled to Chicagoland Speedway to continue his destruction through the Pro Buggy Class.  Luke is en route to one of the most spectacular seasons in TORC history and after stacking two more wins at Chicagoland, inches closer to his first career championship.

After an extra long stint in the Midwest prepping for both Bark River and Crandon, Luke returned to his home base in Southern California to dial in his buggy before making the trek to Chicago.  A seventh place finish last round left Luke anxious to get back on the track and more importantly back on the podium.

Crandon, WI (May 23, 2011) – After mother nature cancelled the MORR Test Day at Crandon the previous two Saturdays, the weather cooperated as twenty seven Sportsman off-road racers were able to put in some much needed pre-season test laps. The day started sunny with above normal temperatures. There was a threat of rain for later in the day, so Crandon track official Fay Statzney, had the first group of racers off line at 9:30 a.m.

The twenty seven racers were split into three groups, and each group had three opportunities to practice on the track. The competitors represented seven of the eight TORC Sportsman classes.

The day went smoothly with only three trucks needing assistance to get back to the pit area. Just as the final group finished their third track session, the rain came ending a perfect day of testing.

The inaugural U.S. Rallycross Championship debuts in the United States in 2011 with a six race slate, three of which will be combined with the TORC Off Road Racing Series at some of the greatest venues in off-road today.

Rallycross is an extreme action-motorsport using World Rally Championship type race cars competing on a closed, short course…similar to TORC’s Off Road Truck race courses! With strong roots coming from the Nordic countries such as Netherlands, Belgium and France, the FIA European Rallycross Championship is the largest of its kind.

The new debut of the U.S. Rallycross Championship will be included as part of a newly announced GLOBAL RallyCross Championship, an ESPN partnership with races leading and including the ESPN Summer X Games.

The U.S. Rallycross Championship will make three stops on the TORC Off Road Championship tour in 2011, at the famous off-road facilities Bark River and Crandon International Raceway. Rallycross will also compete with TORC at Chicagoland Speedway in September as part of the tracks large NASCAR weekend, the first race of NASCAR’s “Chase” Championship run.

“We are very excited to combine the synergies of short-course off-road racing of TORCs trucks series and RallyCar. We are building a great partnership with RallyCar and look forward to welcoming their strong field of competition at some of America’s finest off-road venues in 2011″ stated Kevin Miller, CEO of the United States Automobile Club and the sanctioning organization behind the TORC Series.

“I’ve been stoked since the moment Kevin approached me about partnering with TORC! The opportunity to bring this new-to-America sport to the huge TORC audience at legendary venues like Crandon is an awesome opportunity for RallyCar, our teams, and their sponosors.”
