Racing is well underway after the four-wheeled vehicles left the line this morning for the 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. We spoke to a number of the lead Trophy Truck and Class 1 teams this morning about the race and how they felt before leaving the line. Most of them all talked about the difficulty this rough course will present .

Tavo Vildosola, who hopes to earn another Baja 1000 win this year with his Farther Gustavo Sr., knows the importance of this year regardless of the team’s peformacne thus far in 2013.

Off-Road-Expo-Logo-10-2-12POMONA, Calif. – Celebrating all that is off-road, 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire will host the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Desert Race official live race drawing for starting positions. On Saturday, October 5, at 3 p.m., the crowds will flock to the expansive SCOREville exhibit in the Pomona Fairplex Building 5, to hear the live announcements and be among the first to see the official race course map.

Set to take place Wednesday, November 13, to Sunday, November 17, 2013, this legendary Baja off-road race will cover much of Mexico’s Majestic Baja California Norte region of the peninsula with a loop course that will start and finish in Ensenada, Baja California. More than 300 entries of cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATV’s will fill 40 pro and seven sportsman classes.

SCORE-Logo-12-20-11SAN DIEGO — Next month’s Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo and the Granddaddy of all desert races have joined forces to again present “SCOREville” – an exciting expansive exhibit Oct. 5-6 in Building 5 at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., dedicated to saluting the legends of SCORE Baja racing in honor of the 46th Anniversary of the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

In addition to static displays of vintage and current desert racing vehicles along with autograph sessions with many of the stars of the sport, both past and present, a live drawing for starting positions for the Nov. 13–17 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race will be held at the Off-Road Expo on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 3pm.

The official course map for the race will also be unveiled on Oct. 5 by SCORE CEO/President Roger Norman to begin the drawing event.

On both Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6, autograph sessions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at SCOREville with many of the top SCORE desert racers from today and yesterday.

SCORE-Logo-12-20-11SAN DIEGO — Returning to its regular San Diego studios after two weeks in Las Vegas, legendary desert racer Larry Roeseler will be the spotlight guest on Roger Norman’s Dirt Live weekly internet broadcast Tuesday at 7 p.m. Pacific Time. Airing on www.score-international.com, the show will be back in its normal broadcast home at the SCORE International tech shop in San Diego.

Roger Norman’s Dirt Live one-hour show is broadcast live weekly and the show is anchored around Norman’s two desert racing series, the SCORE Desert Series and the High Desert Racing Association as well as the new bonus points championship purse program he has developed called the World Championship of Desert Racing. All live events this, will be the 14th weekly Dirt Live show to air.

WRP-Products-Logo-4-9-13Montclair, CA: The King Shocks HDRA 250 in Ridgecrest, California featured three vehicles entered in the race that are prepped using the WRP line of premium threadlocker – Justin Davis in the #85 TT, Kory Halopoff/Richard Boyle in the #156 Class 1 car and Erik Harp in the #119 Class 1 car.

Justin Davis qualified 7th against some of the top unlimited teams and drivers in the world on Friday.  Justin picked his way through the field Saturday despite the extremely rough and dusty conditions.  As he ran the final lap, he was second on the road behind the legendary team of Tim Herbst/Larry Roeseler.  In his post-race interview, Justin described the strategy of “latching on to the rear bumper” of these Baja champions to maintain his lead on corrected time.  “The WRP Threadlocker worked awesome holding the truck together all day, but it really showed how well it works on the last lap when I gave it everything the truck had to win the race.”  This is Justin’s first win in TT in the newly formed SCORE/HDRA World Championship series in his Green Army / WRP Trophy Truck.

SCORE Officials announces today a shakeup in the overall finishers at the 2013 Mastercraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250. After receiving a penalty for veering too far off the course (a 500-foot rule was instituted by SCORE’s Roger Norman), Bryce Menzies moved backed to second place which meant Gustavo Vildosola moved into the first-place spot for the overall victory. Finishing after Menzies in third place was last year’s winner Rob MacCachren, who moved up a spot after Juan Carlos Lopez was assessed a penalty.

In the Pro Motorcycle class, KTM-mounted Kurt Caselli was unofficially named the winner but later penalized for straying too far off course, giving the win to JCR Honda’s Timmy Weigand. Caselli moved back into second place, while Kendall Norman (who solo-ed the race) moved up into the final podium spot.

The Monster Energy Off-Road team is set to tackle the 45th annual SCORE Baja 1000. With a massive team of five trophy trucks, One 6-truck, and one bike team The Monster Energy Off-Road team will be in the hunt for the overall win as well as multiple class wins.

The 1,121 mile battle down the treacherous Baja peninsula will begin at 6:30am Thursday morning November 16th in Ensenada, Baja, CA with the start of the bikes. The 4-wheel vehicles will start 5 hours later at 11:30am. The race will continue non-stop through the night ending just outside of La Paz, Baja Sur, CA. The bikes are expected to make it to the finish some 19 hours later near 1:30am if they can maintain a 60-mph average. The four wheel vehicles will are expected to arrive a few hours later near 6:30am.

POMONA, CA -  The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) announced the 2012 Class of Inductees in late July.  The late Roy Denner, Casey Folks and Larry Roeseler will have their names added to the venerable list of those who have committed their lives to the off-road community.  The Inductees will be honored Friday, October 5th in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California.

The three inductees’ extensive accomplishments cover a number of arenas in the sport including advocacy, promotion and racing.  Their legacies will be celebrated and displayed for the public in Gallery Four within the famed National Automobile Museum – the Harrah Collection – located in Reno, NV.  They join names synonymous with the sport including Parnelli Jones, Malcolm Smith, Steve McQueen, James Garner, Walker Evans, Rod Hall as well as many names who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes making the sport prosper and grow.
