Is 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Hiding in Plain Sight?

Photographers recently captured images of two vehicles in front of the Jeep factory outside of its factory in Toledo, Ohio. One of the vehicles is clearly a current-generation Jeep Wrangler JK, but the other is hidden under a tarp. Could this be a new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited hiding in plain site?

We’re not 100 percent sure, but it at least appears that this could actually be a new 2018 Wrangler JL. Visible to anyone passing by on I-75, there is a Wrangler Unlimited sitting in front of the huge “Jeep” sign outside the Toledo, OH assembly plant. Should any tornadoes pass through Toledo in the next several weeks, a quick road trip to Ohio will be in order to see if the car cover is still attached!

Codenamed “JL,” the regular 2018 Wrangler will start production in Q4 of 2017. The Wrangler pickup, codenamed “JT,” has been delayed until later in 2019. Both will be built at the Toledo, Ohio, plant.

The entire Wrangler lineup will be riding on a new chassis, and feature more weight-saving materials in the body design, though it’s been reported there will be only limited use of aluminum.

The new Wrangler will be offered with a 2.0L, turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6L V6, and a turbo diesel. There are also rumors of a plug-in hybrid variant.

Whether this vehicle in Toledo is in fact a 2018 Jeep Wrangler remains unclear, but it’s certainly stoking the fire for Jeep enthusiasts ahead of its launch later this year.
