Yoshimura Brings the Heat to Texas AMA Motocross

Jun. 08, 2010 By Press Release
Chino, Calif. - June 8, 2010 - Yoshimura came blazing into Texas at the Freestone AMA Motocross National this weekend, and Yoshimura racer Ryan Dungey was certainly on fire. Dungey won both motos during Saturday's AMA 450 Motocross race, securing the overall win at the end of the day.

Dungey started the first moto in third and his Yoshimura-powered RM-Z450 took him to first place by lap seven and there he stayed until the checkered flag waved. Dungey went on to win the second moto, as well, which commanded him the top spot overall. After a rough race at the season opener in Hangtown, Dungey did a lot of testing, made adjustments to his race bike, and put in some serious seat time in Florida. With all the power of his Yoshimura RM-Z450 on tap, Dungey saw great improvement in his race at Freestone.

Yoshimura's Andrew Short did well in practice, going first in the first practice and second in the second practice. Despite his success in the warm ups, he was unable to translate that to success at the start of the first moto. Short got back into the competition for the second moto and was able to grab second place for part of the race but fell back to sixth for the finish. His teammate Davi Millsaps finished in the top ten for the first moto, and finished in the top 20 in Moto 2. Matt Moss, in his second U.S. race, had some trouble in the Texas swelter and went 34-20 for the weekend.

Ashley Fiolek went 2-2 on her Yoshimura-powered CRF250R in the Women's motocross race. She took second place overall for the weekend and holds second place in overall points.

Ryan Dungey is now second in the championship point standings, only 11 points behind the leader. Davi Millsaps is holding on to sixth with 55 points and Andrew Short is currently 10th with 37 points. The Yoshimura-powered racers are now back at work preparing for the next round of AMA Motocross action taking place on June 12 at the High Point National in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania.
