Monster Energy Kawasaki Brings Aboard Argentine Luis Correa For Cahuilla WORCS Race

Jun. 08, 2010 By Press Release
Irvine, Calif. - The Monster Energy Kawasaki off-road team will look to Argentine Luis Correa to fill-in for their injured rider Destry Abbott during the sixth round of the WORCS series at Cahuilla MX in Anza, Calif. for this weekend.

The team first met Correa in February at the Enduro Del Verano in Argentina, when Ricky Dietrich raced the event. The 25-year-old Kawasaki rider is accomplished in South America topping the Enduro Del Verano in 2004 (2-stroke class) and finishing on the podium in third at the prestigious event this year. He also earned two National Endurance Championships in 2002 and 2003.

"Luis will be a good fit for our team," said Jason Smigel, off-road supervisor. "When I saw him race in February, I was thinking it would be great to give him an opportunity to race in the United States. When Destry got hurt, we started talking about who could fill-in for him and Correa was someone I thought of. He has had a very successful career so far and we think this is a great chance for him."

This will be Correa's first time racing the WORCS series. His experience racing the sandy and rough Enduro Del Verano will help him quickly learn the terrain on the brand-new course at Cahuilla MX. Round 6 of the WORCS championship will take place from June 11-13.
