If your goal is to have the ultimate trail rig or just a super clean mall crawler, picking the right Jeep Wrangler wheels is likely high on your list of upgrades.

When it comes to picking the right rims for your Jeep Wrangler, what you need to consider goes well beyond the look of the wheel and how it will look mounted on your Jeep. If you’re setting your Jeep Wrangler up for serious off-road use, you’re not going to want a large 20″ wheel that will likely have you cringing at every rock garden you come across and will likely be wrapped with a tire with minimal sidewall that is necessary for tire squish for increased traction. You also want to choose a rim that has the right offset  to minimize any rub when you mount large tires on them. If you’re really into hard core wheeling, you might be looking for a wheel package that not only looks good, but offers a beadlock ring that prevents your tires from coming off the rim when you run extremely low air pressures.

Luckily for you, there are plenty of options out there. From wheels from tried-and-true brands like Method and Mickey Thompson, to lesser-known manufacturers that don’t have the same level of recognition. Where should you put your money? Is it worth the price premium to go with one of the more established brands? Or can you get the same quality and features for less from one of the more unknown brands?

Don’t sweat the question too much; we’re here to help. Our staff of off-road experts has hand selected some of the best Jeep Wrangler wheels on the market today, spanning a range of different price points to fit every budget. We’re confident you’ll be happy with what you see here.

AEV Saverge II Wheel

If you haven’t heard of American Expedition Vehicles out of Michigan, you’re missing out. Known for crafting some of the boldest, most rugged overlanders on the planet, AEV has built up an untarnished reputation for quality and reliability. AEV has several different wheel options available for the Jeep Wrangler JL, but we’re most partial to these. They’re made from A356 T6 cast aluminum and coated matte-black, these AEV Saverge II wheels are designed to deliver a perfect balance of tire clearance and scrub radius for factory-like handling and compatibility. They’re even compatible with the Wrangler’s TPMS, and they come with a lifetime structural warranty, so you don’t need to worry about how they’ll hold up.

7. Fuel Beast Wheel

Fuel Beast Wheel

There is a long list of Fuel wheels for Jeep Wrangler we wanted to include in this list. Fuel Off Road makes some stellar looking wheels, but it’s the brand’s 1-piece line that really has our attention. And maybe our favorite Fuel wheels for Jeep Wrangler are the Beast. Fuel Off Road boasts that the Beast is designed to be tough enough for trail duty while being engineered for daily driving duties. Of course, if you want a true beadlock, the Fuel Zephyr is a solid choice, but the Beast is surprisingly affordable and great looking. They are also available in 16-, 17-, 18-, 20- and 22-inch diameters.

What Are The Pros/Cons of Different Size Wheels?

With sizes ranging from 15″-20″ in diameter, and sometimes even larger, it can be hard to figure out which size Jeep Wrangler wheels you might need. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference and how much you want to lighten your wallet when it comes time to replace tires. You’d think that since the larger rim diameter would mean less tire and less cost, but you couldn’t be more wrong. The larger the diameter of your wheel, the more expensive tire will likely be. Also, you want to need to think about what you want to do with your Jeep. If you’re building your Jeep as a mall crawler, you likely don’t have to worry about the wheels getting dinged up so you can run a larger wheel that will have a short sidewall. If you’re going to be using your Jeep Wrangler for what it was built for, you’re going to want a taller sidewall for more flex and tire bite. A great rule of thumb is to select a rim size that is roughly half the size of the tire diameter you plan on running.

Beadlock vs. Non-Beadlock? Which is better?

Unless you’re taking on the most difficult of difficult trails, beadlock wheels aren’t a must-have item on your Jeep Wrangler. The pros of a beadlock wheel are that you can run an extremely low tire pressure with minimal risk of rolling a tire off the bead and providing superior traction. The downfall is that they are extremely expensive and most are not DOT legal, so legally you cannot drive your rig on the highway if you’ve got them installed. If you just want the look of a beadlock wheel, there are plenty of options on the market that will give you the look you want while being legal on the road and keep more money in your wallet.
