As the Rivian R1T electric truck gets closer to delivering production vehicles to consumers, a keen-eyed fan noticed some a pre-production model outfitted with what looks to be a factory winch.

We actually noticed the winch in a thread on RivianOwnersForum.com about a Yakima tent Rivian does plan to make available to R1T owners. You can check out that thread for yourselves right here.

While Rivian has been talking up the off-road capabilities of the R1T, this is the first we’ve heard about a winch. We do not know if this means a factory winch option is going to be offered or if Rivian was just testing out some options, but it is exciting to see the way this upstart manufacturer is thinking. We also can’t tell what brand of winch we are looking at, but hopefully we will learn more in the coming weeks.

Check out this Instagram post embedded below to catch a glimpse of the winch.

In other Rivian R1T news, another post on RivianOwnersForum.com noticed that the  Rivian website is saying that a removable open-air roof option will be offered on the R1T in 2022.

As it stands now, the first Rivian R1T models will come with an all-glass panoramic roof, but it’s good to see that Rivian is going to give consumers another option in the not too distant future.
