Superwinch makes some of the toughest recovery equipment and winches for serious Jeep and 4-Wheel Drive owners. For the last few years, Superwinch has been putting on a trail run for customers and those wanting to join a group with plenty of pulling power.
Off-Road.com was invited to join the Superwinch Crew on their Moab Superwinch run, led by 4×4 expert Nena Barlow of Barlow Adventures (www.barlows.us).
We began our day with a driver’s meeting, as many Jeep runs do during Moab Easter Jeep Safari. With a good mix of off-road industry people, customers and enthusiasts, we headed out for a day of fun on the rocks. Superwinch and Nena would be leading our group on Metal Masher for a relaxing day of classic Jeeping on the Moab red rock.
Metal Masher is one of Moab’s famous Jeep trails. It offers plenty of play options for the big rigs to strut their stuff, but is suitable for near-stock Jeeps who want to enjoy the spectacular red rock landscape. Great views from the edge of Arth’s Pasture Rim and Gooney Bird Rock are just a few of the highlights. It also includes famous obstacles like “Mirror Gulch” and Rock Chucker, with the potential for side trips to Widow Maker.
We made our way north on 191, stopping to air down at the staging area on Gemini Bridges Rd., located 10 miles north of town. There we met up with other 4-Wheelers getting ready to hit the northwest region of Moab and its famous trails, including the likes of Golden Spike, Sevenmile Rim, Wipe Out Hill and Poison Spider. It was a busy day on Gemini, as this main artery connects several popular tails used during Easter Jeep Safari.
