Rocks, mud, and off-road superchargers across the pond!

This 4×4 festival in Barcelona is billed as the greatest 4×4 event in Europe. After taking a gander at the conditions, the rigs, and the driving skill in this video, we’d be hard pressed to argue with that assertion.

Listen to the supercharger whine on the big wheeled off-road rig that’s doing donuts at just 40 seconds into the video! That is definitely music to our ears around these parts.

It is apparently the 8th year for this festival, one which touts over 40 miles of off-road tracks in addition to what they call a SuperTrack. Think of the purpose built mud- and bounty holes at off-road events in this county and you’ve got the picture. Just because the language is different and the steering wheel is on the opposite side in some of these rigs doesn’t make it any less fun to watch.

There is sponsorship from BFGoodrich in the mix, who step up with a set of tires as a prize for at least one of the event’s competitions. They also use their marketing might to bring along a few of the massive off-road machines which have competed in the grueling Dakar. Watching those enormous Iveco trucks hurling themselves through the air is one of your author’s favorite pastimes.

The organizers also see the value in making this a family event, providing space for little tykes to drive around in Power Wheels style toys and an area for RC crawlers, which is a whole sub-section of sport that’s taken very seriously in some quarters. They even have repair services on site for tires.

Look like fun? We think so, too. How much is a plane ticket to Barcelona?
