Don’t like chrome? Ram has got you covered.

Last week, Ram thundered onto the scene with its new 2019 Heavy Duty pickups, some of which will make a heady 1000lb.-ft when equipped with the high-output Cummins diesel. The company showed off several versions, ranging from the macho Power Wagon to a high-zoot Laramie Longhorn – the latter of which definitely proved there’s no plate like chrome.

Ram knows not everyone likes to wear a chrome belt buckle. This explains why, just days after the big reveal in Detroit, the company introduced another model – this time with a whole buncha color-keyed trim.

The new Sport package doesn’t portend any Hellcat-type shenanigans but does offer a good-looking truck wearing monochromatic clothes. It replaces the chrome bedazzled bumpers and grille surround for pieces which match the truck’s main color, while the interior bins wood trim and gains some piano-black jewellery in its place. Ram tosses in front and rear parking sensors just ‘cuz.

Buyers will have to pop for at least a Big Horn HD (Lone Star if you live next door to J.R. Ewing) if they want to layer on this Sport package. It’ll also be available on Laramie trims. As for powertrain and cab options, feel free to let your imagination run wild. Ram says the Sport will be available with all cab sizes and powertrain options.

All hands are mum on pricing but the current Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Big Horn starts at just under $44,290 for a 4×2 short box Crew Cab.
