Even though there is a finite supply of Land Rover Defender 90s and 110s, Arkonik seems to have no trouble cranking out top-notch (and top-dollar) custom creations.

Like a chef who fusses with an old family recipe to improve the taste, Arkonik takes the classic Land Rover Defender and tosses out some of the annoying bits while keeping and adding more than a small dose of what gearheads call The Good Stuff.

Customers can choose a (relatively) simple Defender from the company’s Origins line, these machines are a personal tribute to the seminal Land Rover. Staying true to the original icon, the rigs still benefit from the same craftsmanship, quality, and reliability that Arkonik big-buck clients in North America and the rest of the globe have been receiving for a decade.

Not that the entry-level Arkonik Defender is cheap, mind you. A D90 starts just one George Washington under $100,000 and that’s before one has arranged delivery. The D110 commands a ten grand premium. A variety of colors are on tap, along with a trio of interior options.

Those caring to amp up their square-jawed Defender experience can take a couple of different paths. One can choose to paw through Arkonik’s back catalog of custom creations, selecting one they like and having the team replicate it. These are called the Editions machines and are all in the ballpark of $150,000. With a handy online tool, customers can select the wheelbase they prefer, then choose between one of three ‘lifestyle’ groups.

The ‘Adventure’ rigs are bestowed with all manner of off-road gear, from beefy tire and wheel packages to winches and skid plates. ‘Classic’ versions largely mimic trucks that originally came out of the factory in Britain (albeit slightly massaged), while ‘Urban’ versions equipped with flashy grilles and jumbo rimz. Takes all kinds, I suppose.

Topping the range is Arkonik’s Bespoke option, a process in which the builders give their customer pretty much free reign to spec their dream Landy. Rainbow-colored seats from the ‘70s? Sure! Gonzo off-road tires? No problem! Enough lights to illuminate the dark side of the moon? You got it!

Naturally, these examples are the most expensive of the range, with lead times stretching upwards of sixteen months. Arkonik notes that, due to the “care and attention” required for a restoration, production is limited to just five examples each month.
