Headed to the beach? Nissan says its Titan Surfcamp is the ultimate collection of modern beach toys for fishing, surfing, and sandy summer adventure.

The Titan Surfcamp began life as a bone-stock Titan XD Crew Cab, straight off the factory floor in Canton, Mississippi. The company layered on a Midnight Edition package and equipped it with Nissan’s triple-nickel Cummins 5.0L V8 engine.

Tossing the keys to its creative team, the Surfcamp transition began with the addition of a factory-authorized ICON suspension lift kit, a unit that’s available through Nissan dealers. They then added ICON Alpha wheels wrapped in Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. Body armor to protect it from the elements comes via the fabulously-named Fab Four Vengeance Series front bumper.

“In the summer, beach parking lots are full of trucks hauling surfboards, fishing rods, boats and campers as people crave the sun and sand,” said Fred DePerez, vice president, Nissan North America LCV Business Unit. “Inspired by the vintage beach trucks of the 1960s, Titan Surfcamp is a celebration of the beach truck tradition with all the modern technologies Titan customers want when they head out to surf, shore fish, and camp-out by the water.”

The Midnight Edition’s inky black paint is hidden by a wrap whose color is matched to the exterior hue of a 1967 Nissan Patrol. It’s definitely a retro color scheme reminiscent of 1960s and 1970s surf culture. A Hot Wheels 1971 Datsun Bluebird Wagon nicknamed “JNC Surf Patrol”, a vintage beach cruiser deep-rooted in Nissan heritage, is also said to have inspired the wrap’s details.

Fishing rods can be stored along the roof rack while en route to the beach and once lines are cast, integrated rod holders in the bumper are there to help. To wash off the inevitable salt and sand, a Road Shower rack mounted solar shower is incorporated.

A Rhino-Rack awning juts out from the rear to provide shade while a Yeti 125-quart cooler will keep your catch and favorite beverage cold, just make sure one is not on top of the other. The de rigueur aftermarket lights are from a variety of companies, including KC and Baja Designs. At day’s end, a hard-sided roof-mount Freespirit Recreation Elite Series Automatic Tent offers a good spot to rest.

This isn’t the first lifestyle truck on which Nissan has turned a wrench. They first created the Titan Project Basecamp, designed to showcase items for an overlanding camping lifestyle. Nissan’s latest lifestyle-inspired show vehicle will make its first public appearance at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST). Check it out at the event being held in Orlando, Florida from July 10th – 13th.
