Ram-Rebel-TRX-Concept-00

Ram truck fans all over America collectively screamed in excitement when the company debuted the Hellcat V8-powered Ram Rebel TRX at the 2016 Texas State Fair.

The truck was a true answer to the Ford F-150 Raptor, featuring a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 575 hp, coil-link rear suspension, bead lock wheels, widened fender flares and a racing-inspired cabin.

We recently heard rumors that FCA was going to eventually put the thing into production, and Fiat Chrysler finally confirmed such plans during its five-year product presentation in Italy today.

But whereas the Rebel TRX concept was based on the outgoing Ram, this new one will be based on the all-new truck and its much fresher platform. FCA didn’t provide any details on the production Rebel TRX, but we imagine it would stay relatively true to the concept with a supercharged V8 engine, high-end off-road shocks, knobby tires, beefed up fenders and front and rear skid plates.

In addition to the new Rebel TRX, Ram is also planning to release a new Ram Heavy Duty between now and 2022, along with a new mid-size pickup and a new Promaster City. The new midsize pickup is definitely exciting and should prove to be a worthy adversary to the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Ford Ranger that have helped to revive the segment in recent years.

We’ll have more information on these exciting new Ram products as it becomes available.
