American company Textron Off Road, a group whose parent company is known for supplying combat vehicles and choppers to the military, has announced an addition to their off-road lineup. The Prowler Pro and Prowler Pro XT are gas-powered side-by-sides built right here in the United States.

Targeted at owners who want to traverse their farm fields, tend to livestock, or pace a hunt, Textron is touting the quietness of the Prowler Pro. At the heart of the Prowler Pro is a 50-horsepower, 812cc EFI engine that the company describes as ‘whisper-quiet’.

Said to offer all the grunt needed to be a reliable work partner or to haul big game. vibration-reducing engine mounts are deployed to minimize vibration and harshness so the vehicle offers quiet power and performance.

Prowler Pro also features a tuned exhaust utilizing a rubber isolator with the muffler to lessen exhaust noise. No more frightening off the wild game with this thing. A single bench able to hold three people is the standard seating configuration. Textron puts the shifter for the CVT transmission on the column, where nature and Henry Ford intended it to be.

The rig has a full 10 inches of front and 9.5 inches of rear suspension travel with 10.75 inches of ground clearance. The 26-inch Pro Terrain tires should be able to take on rutted fields or the toughest hunting trails. It has a 2000-pound towing capacity (more than some small crossovers, it should be noted), a 1500-pound payload and 1000-pound cargo box capacity. Specs like those allow farming implements or game to be hauled around with ease.

The company offers over four dozen accessories including a truck-inspired cab, a heater kit, and  gun scabbards – appropriate given their military endeavors.. Accessory packages include “Geared-Up,” “Expedition”, and “Decked-Out”. All of these sound like big fun until you realize they’re only for the Prowler. The packages bundle together different roof, windshield, lighting, and in-cab accessory options.

There is ample experience in the Textron wheelhouse on which to draw when designing and building the Prowler Pro. It’s off-road division already markets both gas and electric side-by-sides and ATVs for work and play. The specialized vehicles branch makes everything from golf carts to snowmobiles. Trace the family tree back far enough, and you’ll even find the Arctic Cat brand in its portfolio.

Textron Off Road offers the Prowler Pro with standard rack-and-pinion steering and 12-inch steel wheels in Marsh Green for $11,399 in America. The Prowler Pro XT comes in Dynamic Charcoal or Fire Red and includes electronic power steering plus 14-inch machined aluminum wheels for $1600 more.
