Fans of the Bridgestone brand have a new option for rubber to put on their crossover, SUV, or pickup truck.

Bridgestone says the new Dueler A/T Revo 3 is engineered for smooth highway handling while also offering a dose of off-road capability. The Dueler A/T Revo 3 features new tech from Bridgestone the company is calling Traction Claw.

Intended to provide a measure of off-road handling and sure-footed performance in the snow, the tire incorporates a new tread pattern with large tread blocks and staggered shoulder lugs. It’s an aggressive look for a tire that’s aimed at the mainstream, arguably in response to the well-received aggro look of BFGoodrich’s KO2.

Not mentioned in the press blurb but appearing on the Bridgestone website is the detail that most 20-inch sizings of the Dueler A/T Revo 3 are built with black sidewalls while all others have outlined white lettering. It’s a roughly 50/50 split between LT and P designations, with sizes ranging from lightweight P225/75/16 to LT285/60/20 for all the brodozers. A tasty LT 315/70/17 is also listed with 17/32nds tread depth.

Stepped grooves baked into the tread should stiffen the tread blocks nicely, extending the life of the tire beyond butter-in-the-microwave levels. Open slots on the tire’s shoulders are designed to evacuate water and reduce hydroplaning on the freeway. This is a tire designed to spend time on-road, remember.

Bridgestone has been around since 1931, and traces its roots more than 30 years prior to that through the Firestone family, so they know a thing or two about rubber hoops. Bridgestone Americas lays claim to more than 50 production facilities and 55,000 employees. The company has two plants manufacturing off-road tires – one in Normal, Illinois plus a facility in Trenton, South Carolina.

Available in over 30 sizes, the Dueler A/T Revo 3 tire has a 60,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, subject to the standard legal mumbo jumbo. Find ‘em at a Bridgestone tire dealer or the company website.
