Mopar Wrangler

At the SEMA Show in Vegas, Mopar showed off a portion of its parts catalog, promising they’d eventually offer more than 200 Jeep Performance Parts for the all-new Wrangler. On Wednesday in L.A., they showed just what a healthy sprinkling of these accessories look like.

The Mopar brand’s new lineup for the all-new Jeep Wrangler was created after more than 100,000 hours of development, validation, and testing by the Mopar team.

Most of the performance parts and accessories for the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be available when the vehicle arrives in dealerships.

Not content to bring a single modified Jeep to the show, Mopar brought a brace of Wranglers. A tidy-looking, two-door, base model Sport finished in white showed off a few tasteful modifications, while an eye-popping green four-door Rubicon featured some of the more expressive options. Naturally, your humble author preferred the extroverted Jeep.

On the green machine, a set of 2-inch-round steel tube doors right out of the Jurassic Park franchise adds to the Wrangler’s open-air freedom. The four-door’s eye-catching Mojito Green exterior, a production option, is protected by new Jeep Performance Parts rock rails that are thicker and wider than previous offerings and augmented with a new, grippier coating similar to that used on Ram Truck bed liners. No worries about any Arizona pinstriping, then.

The production Rubicon front “Stubby” bumper assembly defends the Mopar satin black keystone-shaped grille from trail obstacles and features a water-resistant Warn winch with die-cast construction, synthetic rope, and a wired remote control. New LED off-road lights, available in 5- and 7-inch applications pump out a maximum of 8,000 lumens, putting military grade illumination into the hands of hard-core off-roaders.

The 2-inch lift kit raises the Rubicon for off-road clearance and works in conjunction with production high-top fender flares. BFGoodrich KM2 35-inch tires wrap around new Jeep Performance Parts beadlock-equipped 17-inch aluminum wheels that feature a 12 mm offset to accommodate oversize tires and help tackle off-road conditions.

A snorkel out of the Jeep Performance Parts catalog is also on board, while new spare tire tailgate hinges reside out back. Sharp-eyed fans will notice the relocated third-brake light, hinted at in spy photos earlier this year by way of a flap in the center of the camouflage covering a test mule’s spare tire. The new rearview camera remains operational even with all that extra lettuce.

Across the show floor, a two-door Wrangler Sport bore a Mopar roof rack mounted to the hardtop and accessorized with a cargo carrier. BFGoodrich KO2 35-inch tires feature Mopar 17-inch “Gear” rims inspired by the shape and design of the all-new Jeep Performance Parts logo. Jeep Performance Parts tube steps and a 2-inch lift kit add off-road touches, and like its four-door counterpart, the two-door all-new Wrangler is also customized with the new spare tire tailgate hinge reinforcement.

This particular Wrangler Sport keeps the party going as it’s equipped with the first-ever Mopar tailgate table. It can be mounted with or without the new production Trailrail system and conveniently flips out to create a utility space and beverage holder. After lunch, it folds up for easy storage.

Its black fuel door, new from Mopar, has been redesigned to incorporate styling cues of the all-new Wrangler. Doorsill guards, grab handles, and all-weather floormats round out the Mopar accessories on the two-door.

The Mopar line of Jeep Performance Parts and accessories for the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be available for purchase when the Wrangler arrives in dealerships. Be sure to visit www.mopar.com/jpp to check out the full catalog.
