2018 RZR 4

Like the adaptive nature of the DYNAMIX suspension but have three friends who are always tagging along? Polaris now has a machine for you.

This summer, Polaris introduced the DYNAMIX suspension on its RZR XP, an adaptive setup using a set of FOX 2.5 Podium Live Valve shocks with Bottom-Out Control to give it a ride which is constantly adjusting itself on the fly. Now, this smart suspension is available on a four-seater machine.

Polaris has introduced the newest member of the DYNAMIX family, launching the new RZR XP 4 Turbo DYNAMIX Edition. Those capital letters are important, apparently. With seating for four, the new side-by-side features all the innovation found on the RZR XP Turbo DYNAMIX Edition, including the revolutionary Ride Command system.

In yet another feature where the off-road industry is increasingly adding on-road comforts to their machines, the Ride Command system is powered by a seven-inch touchscreen. Riders have access to three settings for the suspension: comfort, sport and firm. Comfort allows for cruising and eating up bumps, while sport is a blended mode which offers comfort and solid high-speed handling for blasting across the countryside. Firm will rattle the fillings out of your teeth, as Polaris claims it is the firmest suspension in the industry.

“RZR’s DYNAMIX Active Suspension is intelligent enough to monitor critical driver and vehicle inputs 200 times per second,” said Craig Scanlon, chief retail and marketing officer, Polaris Off-Road Vehicles. “The system continuously adjusts each individual shock on-the-fly and is so dynamic that instead of having to choose between a plush ride or performance, riders get the best of both.”

Gone are the days when launching a side-by-side over a dune or gnarly rocks meant hanging on to the grab handles and hoping for a soft landing. With DYNAMIX, it doesn’t matter if the machine is cornering, braking, accelerating, or airborne – the system adjusts the suspension for the best response to driver inputs and terrain. These continuous changes give riders more performance without sacrificing a comfortable ride. This author likes the airborne suggestion.

ACE 150 LE

Polaris also announced its popular single-seat ACE 150 EFI will be available in a new, race-inspired limited-edition model. Dubbed the LE, it comes standard with LED daytime running lights, seatbelt, side nets, whip flag, and parking brake. It’ll also have color-matched components and an individually numbered race plate.

The ACE 150 is a great choice for youths aged 10 and up, with its 150cc EFI engine and cool 22-inch tires. Parents can choose from one of four speed-limit modes so Young Junior doesn’t test the 9-inches of ground clearance and 6-inches of suspension travel beyond his or her limits.

The new Polaris ACE 150 EFI LE retails for $3,999 and is expected to arrive in dealerships in early November.
