BFGoodrich-Crandon-International-5-25-2017
CRANDON, WI. (May 25, 2017)
– Continuing a long and distinguished relationship that began in the early 1980s, BFGoodrich has once again renewed its partnership with legendary Crandon International Raceway as “Official Tire” for the 2017 racing season, including the second annual Crandon World Cup, part of the Red Bull Signature Series.

Today’s announcement not only continues BFGoodrich’s long relationship with the “Big House,” but will secure naming rights for the iconic BFGoodrich Barn and the main entrance to the track’s highly popular “BFGoodrich PRO Pits” area of Crandon’s massive 400-acre facility.

The BFGoodrich brand has a rich history of racing excellence at Crandon International Raceway, including an impressive list of PRO and Sportsman Crandon World Championships. This heritage also incorporates 12 victories in Crandon’s prestigious BorgWarner/AMSOIL Challenge Cup races — more than all other tire companies combined. That list of Crandon winners includes such legendary names as Jack Flannery, Steve Kelley, Curt LeDuc, Scott Douglas, Carl Renezeder, Johnny Greaves, Jason Baldwin, Scott Douglas, Ricky Johnson, Chad Hord, Rob MacCachren and others.

“Crandon International Raceway represents both the roots of short course off-road racing and the BFGoodrich brand,” explained Peter Calhoun, BFGoodrich motorsports marketing manager. “We are proud of that history and incorporating BFGoodrich in such a visible way at Crandon, especially the BFGoodrich Barn.”

For last year’s 47th Crandon Off-Road World Championship and Crandon World Cup weekend, the traditional red and white barn structure was retrofit with new BFGoodrich signage on the exterior, while inside the main area was upgraded with a new BFGoodrich/Crandon historic display area, professional sound system, multiple new video displays, refreshed decorating and enhanced lighting.

Once the only two structures found on the vast 265-acre landscape known as Plumber’s Farm were a small home and the large historic barn that now serves as Crandon International Raceway’s legendary landmark. It was also home to 59 heads of milk cattle and up to 50 tons of hay before the land was purchase by the Crandon Wolfsman Sportsman Club in 1984. The house was eventually moved, but the barn stood all the way through 1998, when the lower portion was turned into the track office, a meeting room and a special VIP area.

“We take huge pride in our corporate partnerships, especially with top-level brands like BFGoodrich,” said Crandon International President Cliff Flannery. “The BFGoodich Barn was a popular fan favorite last year, and we are looking forward to completing the new entrance to the BFGoodrich PRO Pits this summer.”

In its 47th year of operation, in 2016 Crandon International drew the largest crowds ever to the facility, as well as record support of a host of top-level corporate partners and the richest single day of competition in the sport’s history.

With two huge race weekends coming to Wisconsin’s scenic Northwoods in 2017, race fans can begin their preparations to visit two annual gatherings — the Forest County Potawatomi Community Brush Run on June 23rd – 25th and the Crandon World Championship Off-Road Races ® held over Labor Day weekend August 31st – September 3rd.

Labor Day weekend will host the biggest off-road short course race on earth, the annual Crandon World Championship Off-Road Race ®. Last year 49,600 fans from all over the America and Canada filled every corner of Crandon International.

For the second consecutive year, the weekend will feature the Crandon World Cup, part of the Red Bull Signature Series. Hosted and sanctioned by Crandon International Raceway on Sunday, September 3rd, the special day has been created to attract the world’s best off-road racers and teams to compete for Crandon PRO World Championships® in a variety of PRO-level classes. For the second time in the sport’s nearly 50-year history, short course competitors from all sanctioning bodies around the country can race on a completely level playing field with the biggest single day payout and best television coverage in the sport. The event will be brought to a mainstream audience via the Red Bull Signature Series as a highlight program on NBC.
