Plenty of speculating has been done over the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, and now what could be a credible source has leaked information on the engine options.

Jalopnik, sourcing an anonymous tip from a worker at an FCA engine plant, is reporting that the new Wrangler will have a total of six different engine options, including two versions of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, two versions of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two diesel options, a 2.2-liter and a 3.0-liter.

This story corroborates rumors that a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine would serve as the base option, though the tip did not specifically mention the small engine as a turbo. New diesel options have also been expected for some time with the Wrangler, though the possibility of two different diesels hasn’t been discussed. It’s always possible that one of these diesels will be available in Europe only, though availability remains to be seen.

Info on the body styles was also leaked, with a total of five different roof options available. There will, of course, still be two- and four-door configurations, while buyers will be able to choose between a black soft top, tan soft top, black hard top, body-color hardtop and a power-retractable soft top. A new small pickup based on the Wrangler is on its way as well.

Few secrets are left for the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, which recently had its interior exposed in spy photos. Expect it to debut sometime before the end of 2017.
