We get it.  Taking the time to secure a safety line can be a nuisance, and more often than not they get in the way. However, tying off to another vehicle or one of the many trees in the area very likely would have saved this guy from a huge tumble down this hillside. Please excuse the language, as you can imagine, the people standing by were a little shocked.
