Here’s our first look at the Jeep Compass Trailhawk

To kickoff the start of production at the new FCA Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco, the next-generation Compass was unveiled to the world last week at a press conference in Brazil.

The new compact SUV, which Jeeps says will be offered worldwide, will be produced with a shocking 17 powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world. What that means for U.S. customers is unknown at this point, however (and after the VW scandal, a diesel is unlikely).

Jeep is staying the course with its off-road prowess for the compact SUV, as it hails the vehicle will deliver “best-in-class 4×4 off-road capability.” The compact SUV, which will surely be driven the vast majority of its time on the road, will also feature “advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of safety and advanced technology offerings,” according to a press release from Jeep.

The 2017 Jeep Compass will be available in North America in the first quarter of 2017, and we expect to know more details later this year at the LA Auto Show in November.
