CRANDON, WISC. –  For off-road racing fans around the country, the upcoming Labor Day weekend means one thing – the annual World Championships at Wisconsin’s Crandon International Raceway.

For 46 years, the sport’s fastest racers and 45,000-plus fans have converged on the small Northwoods town of Crandon to settle bragging rights and earn a special place in motorsports history. The largest event of its type in the world, both The Off Road Championship (TORC) professional and Crandon Sportsman series’ drivers will be looking to end their seasons with a victory at the theater of speed affectionately known as “The Big House.”

As was the case last year, a major storyline will focus on California-based racer Kyle LeDuc as he attempts to slow down Green Bay’s CJ Greaves and his father Johnny in the sport’s premier unlimited PRO 4×4 truck class. LeDuc comes to Crandon bolstered by an incredible 12-for-12 victory tally in the west coast-based Lucas Oil series piloting his #99 Monster Energy Ford. CJ Greaves will be looking to not only wrap up the 2015 TORC PRO 4×4 championship, but also another season title in the TORC PRO 2WD division.

After a full weekend of racing and concerts held within the track’s massive 400-acre property, the 6th Annual Amsoil Challenge Cup will again serve as an intense and spectacular finale. The race will see TORC’s PRO 2WD and PRO 4×4 classes let loose on the track at the same time after receiving staggered starts. In an Amsoil Challenge Cup record, the winner will take home $46,000 in cash plus additional prizes from MasterCraft Safety and Lincoln Welders.

Last year it was a flying LeDuc that snatched the Amsoil Cup victory from both Greaves — all piloting Monster Energy-sponsored TORC PRO 4×4 trucks.

For this year, the Greaves Motorsports team is taking steps to insure that performance won’t happen again. “We’ve improved both our trucks to another level over 2014,” said Johnny Greaves, himself a two-time Labor Day cup winner. “Our laps times at Crandon for the spring Forest County Potawatomi Community Cup race were faster than the quickest lap laid down at last year’s Amsoil Cup race.”

Part of that philosophy springs from the confidence found in fact that CJ Greaves has the lead in both the TORC PRO 2WD and PRO 4×4 categories, with Johnny a solid runner up in the later class.The younger Greaves will be battling Crandon’s own Keegan Kincaid for the PRO 2WD title.

Another source of optimism might also be the news that the team is rolling out a brand new unlimited Toyota PRO 4×4 for CJ that incorporates the same manual transmission used by his father.

Labor Day weekend at Crandon is the biggest, baddest race there is by far,” the senior Greaves added. “So, we are coming to dominate and leave absolutely nothing on the table.”

Representing what many call the sport’s “Indianapolis 500,” for tens of thousands of fun-loving race fans the  end-of-summer trek to the Wisconsin Northwoods is a “can’t miss” tradition. For 2015, guests to the 400-acre “Big House” can look forward to a jam-packed, three-day schedule of great racing, rich tradition and on-site entertainment that make up the unforgettable “Crandon Experience.”

Crandon’s custom wrought iron gates will open to welcome visitors on Wednesday, September 2nd at precisely 12:00 noon (EST). The facility’s massive grounds feature nearly 2,000 manicured grass campsites, many of which are reserved months in advance. While track management expects another sell-out for campsites, those remaining will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Daily parking and admission tickets are also available at the gate.

Saturday will be a busy day with a full slate of TORC Pro and Crandon Sportsman and Pro classes. Competitors from across the country and Canada will go wheel-to-wheel to to earn themselves a coveted World Champion® title. Sportsman classes include; Parsons Classix, Londerville Steel Stock Truck, Auto Gear Pizza 1600 Light Buggy, Miller Light Limited 4, MasterCraft Safety Formula 4×4, Mt. Dew Super Stock Truck, Brew Pub Short Course Karts, Trigs Smoke House Super Buggy and the Country Hearth Super Truck.

The exciting TORC PRO Light, PRO 2WD AND PRO 4×4 clases will end the day of racing, giving way to Wisconsin-based Vic Ferrari Band – another popular Crandon Labor Day weekend institution.

On Sunday, the weekend will culminate with more competition and series’ championships crowned in the Crandon Sportsman and TORC PRO truck categories. Fans will then settle in for the most intense off-road competition in the sport —  the 6th Annual Amsoil Cup Challenge race.
