BJ Baldwin never backs down from a challenge. Most racers will be used up after competing at the 46th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 but not BJ. He spends hours training his mind and body for the abuse that comes when racing hundreds of miles of punishing terrain without relief. He runs (and wins) the Baja 1000 solo and has completed every mile of racing in the SCORE series this season.

That strength will be needed when he first takes on 500 miles of the toughest Baja terrain in his Monster Energy Trophy Truck and then lines up to race Formula Off-Road trucks in the #97 Toyo Tires truck at the X Games in Austin, Texas the following day.

“An X Games trophy will be a great addition to the race wins and championship trophies I’ve achieved,” says BJ, “It won’t be easy but anything really worth achieving is difficult.” BJ has formidable short course racing experience, competing in the CORR series in 2008. His unique ability to drive on two wheels may come in handy while racing the Formula Off-Road trucks. The trucks have compliant suspensions to soak up the landings from huge jumps. When railing corners on the pavement, the trucks lift the front inside tire completely off the ground. Nobody racing in Austin will have the amount of experience dragging the door handles that BJ Baldwin does.

BJ is down south right now prerunning the Baja 500 race course. Qualifying for the 500 takes place in a secret location on Thursday, June 5th and take the green flag at 10:00am Saturday morning June, 7th. BJ will jump on a plane immediately afterwards bound for Austin Texas to race on Sunday June, 8th. After 2 laps of qualifying and 12 laps in heat one, 16 Formula Off-Road trucks will run 20 laps for X Games gold.
