GREENVILLE, SC – BFGoodrich Tires has over a hundred teams on the lake bed sporting some kind of BFGoodrich tread pattern from the brand new Baja T/A KR2 prototype tire on reigning King Randy Slawson’s car, to teams running the more common Krawler T/A or Mud-Terrain T/A.

Saturday at King of the Hammers is a set-up day. The steady stream of vehicles coming down the dirt road seems endless.  The tents that were once empty fill up with buggies, tools and tires.  BFGoodrich is a tire of choice for many teams.

Chicky Barton, 3rd place finisher in the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers, was a no-body at the beginning of last years race.  With his consistent driving in a single seat car, he became someone as he finished with the adjusted time placing him in 3rd.  He spent the year since building a brand new car.  “We have been here for two days testing and tuning and the car is feeling great.  We are running the KRT-B’s that are very responsive, I love them,” said Chicky.

Larry McRae, a BFGoodrich Ambassador and owner of Poison Spyder, has a brand new car #4415 named Crispy, aka BAJK that will be qualifying in Tuesday nights Power Hour and racing in the Unlimited Class on Friday.  “We spent most of the day pre-running today and playing with tire pressures on our KRT Baja TA’s.  I think we found the pressure that will work best in the desert and in the rocks.”

Randy Slawson, the winner of the 2013 King of the Hammers, has a home field advantage with living only and hour and a half away.  With living so close, his goal isn’t to pre-run as much as it is to make sure that the car is in top working conditions and the Bomber Cars are prepared for battle.  “We are prepared to go out this year with BFGoodrich’s newest Baja T/A KR2 prototype tire and defend the crown with determination and motivation to finish first again.“

“This year’s racing season commences again with one of the most brutal challenges for racers, trucks and tires at the King of the Hammers,” said Peter Calhoun, Motorsports Manager, BFGoodrich Tires. “We’ve been proud to have provided the tire solution tough enough to endure the hazards of this race and been on the winning racer’s truck the last two years and five times total in this event. We are equally proud to provide a
