Demeny-TORC-Off-Road-8-14-13Abrams, WI – The Super Stock Truck division is one of the most competitive groups of racers in the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL and after two really tough rounds of racing in southwestern Michigan, the battle of the championship continues to see Don Demeny at the top of the list. The cagey Super Stock veteran continues to finish in the top five practically every time he hits the track, a pattern he continued at Red Bud MX.

The track at Red Bud is very technical, which is a nice way of saying the track is narrow with tight corners. The layout also some large elevation changes with big air jumps and soil that can get really chewed up when a dozen four thousand pound trucks continually make laps around the iconic facility. Even with that said, most of the drivers, including Don Demeny can’t wait to go racing at Red Bud.

The starting lineup for Saturday’s had the top thirteen drivers in points lined up in reverse order. This would put points leader Demeny at the back of the pack. The start saw Demeny take a cautious approach to the first half of the race ensuring the #885 Nsight Telservices / Cellcom / E3 Spark Plugs / Cooper Tires RAM would be running hard at the finish. The plan worked, as Demeny Racing finished Round 7 in fifth place.
Overnight, the team inspected the Nsight RAM thoroughly and decided to replace a few of the steering components on the truck as the Red Bud track can really wear out front end parts.

The Sunday’s race saw Demeny take a similar approach to the race and this time the points leader crossed the line in third place. As Demeny Racing headed towards the podium celebration, a TORC official awarded the team the second place as the racer finishing in front of Demeny was given a black flag penalty for an on track rules infraction.

“Just looking at this track wears you out,” commented Don Demeny. “After Saturday’s race we really inspected the front end thoroughly and saw a couple of parts that looked pretty tired so we replaced them. I think that was the insurance policy that got us on the podium. Again thanks to my family and crew for getting this truck prepared and run its best, whether is back at the shop or here at the track. Thanks to Doug at Cooper Tire as their tires really made our Nsight Teleservices/Cellcom RAM power up the hills and around the loamy corners.”

With just one weekend of racing in the 2013 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL Super Stock Truck Championship Chase, Don Demeny leads fellow Abrams, WI resident Nick Byng by six points and as Danny Beauchamp is only another four points behind Byng. The final weekend will definitely be a fight to finish.

The Crandon Off-Road World Championships will host the final weekend of the TORC Sportsman Series on August 31 – September 1 in Crandon, Wisconsin.
