Danny-Beauchamp-TORC-Crandon-7-10-13Escanaba, MI – After several bouts of heart wrenching bad luck, Danny Beauchamp broke through to take his first win of in the TORC Sportsman race season. Before taking home the top spot in Sunday’s Super Stock Truck race, Beauchamp had to withstand one more round of disappointment during Saturday’s eight lap feature.

Danny Beauchamp Racing seemed to have the truck to beat during the opening rounds of TORC Super Stock Truck competition, only to have minor issues that would prevent the black #826 Ford F-150 from finishing either race. Undaunted, the team leader and crew chief Kevin Frossard made sure everything was triple checked before the truck was loaded in the trailer for the two hour trip to Crandon, Wisconsin.

The weekend at Crandon started out wet. In fact all the on track activities for all the competitors were cancelled as intermittent rain showers hovered over the 1.8 mile “Big House” race track. In fact the rain continued through the night and into the early morning , as track officials also cancelled Saturday morning practice as well. Somehow all the racing did go off on schedule.

By the time the sixteen Super Stock Truck field lined up for Round 3, the track was almost perfect. The always exciting and sometimes treacherous land rush start saw Danny Beauchamp take the lead as the field exited Potawatomi Turn One. It looked like the DBR team would get its first win of the season, but on lap four, the #825 truck began running on seven cylinders. Quickly Beauchamp came into the Hot Pits , and a loose spark wire was found. The repair was easy and the Coplan’s Iron & Metal / HillTop RV Superstore Ford got back to racing, but now at the tail end of the field.

The final four laps saw Beauchamp pass six trucks to salvage a fifth place finish. All things considered this was defining moment for the team. Even with a stop in the Hot Pits, Beauchamp not only stayed on the lead lap, but worked his way through traffic to nearly finishing on the podium.

Overnight, the DBR crew cleaned up the truck, repaired some of the body work, and made sure all the mechanicals were ready to go for Sunday.

Sunday’s Round 4 land rush lineup had the BFGoodrich Tires equipped Ford right in the middle of sixteen door to door trucks. When the green flag was waved, Beauchamp, for the fourth straight time, went to the head of the pack. This time the man from Escanaba, didn’t let anything get in his way of a victory. The #826 Ford led all eight laps, and finally Danny and his team could breathe a sigh of relief.

“Everybody knows we have led every race this year, only to have some strange things happen to prevent us from sealing the deal,” exclaimed Danny Beauchamp. “My team is the greatest. They never got down, and they never let me get down. Last night and this morning they just kept pumping me up, and here we are. We have six more rounds of racing, and anything can happen. Don’t count us out of the championship just yet.”

After four rounds of racing in the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL Super Stock Truck Championship, Danny Beauchamp is currently in sixth place, just one point out of fifth, and five points in back of fourth place.

The next race on the TORC schedule is July 12-13 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois.
