Radar-Tire-Lucas-Oil-6-20-13June 2013 – Fresh off the 2013 SCORE International Baja 500 Class 10 win last month, Mike Johnson and Radar Tires Racing look to earn their first win of the 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park aboard the No. 31 Bronson Motorsports Toyota Tacoma sponsored by Radar Tires.

Not only does the Bronson Motorsports have new hardware from the Baja 500 win, they have a brand new Keith Stamper ProLite racing machine in their fleet this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park.  The team will have both ProLite racing machines onsite and will determine which one will be the primary race chassis following the LOORRS practice sessions.

In addition to the LOORRS Rounds Seven and Eight this weekend, Johnson will take to the track for the Savage System 2013 Utah Challenge ProLite promotional race on Thursday evening.  Although it is a non-points race, additional seat time in the Radar Tires machine can only bode well for Johnson and the Bronson Motorsports team.

“It has been a whirlwind season so far and I can’t wait to get back into the Radar Tires Toyota Tacoma this weekend,” Mike Johnson said.  “We’ve had good runs in LOORRS but just not the results we wanted.  But after winning at the Baja 500 in our Radar Tires Buggy, it is now time for us to put the Radar Tires Toyota on the podium over here in LOORRS.  I’ve had time to focus on what we need to do to break this rut we’ve found ourselves in at LOORRS events and I think this will be our breakthrough weekend.”

In LOORRS competition this year, Johnson’s best finish was ninth place at Las Vegas Motors Speedway.  Misfortune and bad luck have haunted Johnson this season, even though the team has estimated that Johnson has passed more of his competitors on track this season, as a result of early contact and then rallying back to finish.

Despite his LOORRS results, Johnson and Radar Tires Racing have won two off road events this season.  In January, Johnson and co-driver Mike Majesky were the overall winners at the Mojave Off-Road Racing Enthusiasts (M.O.R.E.) New Years 200 race in Barstow, California, and the Class 10 winners of the 45th Annual SCORE International Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico.

Since the Baja 500 Class 10 win last month, Johnson returned to his ‘day job’ on location in Austin, Texas.  Johnson, who doubles as Hollywood stunt driver, has been filming segments for another feature film.

The two-day event at Miller Motorsports Park takes place on the five-turn, 0.8-mile dirt track and features off-road racing on both Saturday and Sunday, Radar Tires, Bronson Motorsports and Johnson will compete in both races this weekend.

The size 32X11.50R15 Radar Renegade R5 tires this weekend will feature the Breast Cancer Research Foundation pink ribbon logo.  For every Radar tire sold, Omni United will donate $5 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) with a minimum annual donation of $200,000 and a maximum donation of $250,000.

Off-road motorsports was chosen by the newly-formed Radar Racing team to showcase the Renegade R5 M/T tire, which features open blocks for mud dispersion, deep tread blocks, and reinforced shoulders.  This tread pattern and rigorous construction is ideal for the surfaces encountered on short course tracks such as Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California and Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona as well as the open desert of Baja California in the legendary SCORE Baja 1000, the most iconic of all off-road races.
