Spy-Del-Moto-Derby-6-14-13CARLSBAD, Calif. — The second annual SPY Del Moto Derby Invitational—the only motocross event in San Diego County Fair history—saw Kyle Partridge take the holeshot and hold the lead from start to finish to claim the SPY Del Moto Derby crown, and the $2,500 prize in the highly contested Pro/Am Division.

“We’re so happy with the riders and fans that came out for this one-of-a-kind event,” said Kyle Krause, SPY motocross team manager. “We had some incredible racing and it was awesome to see all the kids hanging with SPY team riders McGrath, K-DUB and Barcia. You can bet we’ll be bringing the thrill of motocross racing back to the coast again next year.”

The unique San Diego County Fair venue, which sees over 90,000 visitors per day, showcased amateur and professional arena-style motocross racing in 450cc and 250cc classes, as well as 65cc and 85cc for young riders. Fans were also treated to a track walk, mini-truck race, Best Whip competition, 2-Stroke Challenge race with Jeremy McGrath, and the opportunity to test the new SPY Happy Lens™ during an all-day Happy demo. Professional motocross racers Kevin Windham, Jeremy McGrath and Justin Barcia were also on hand to sign autographs during the SPY MX athlete autograph session and cheer on their fellow SPY team riders.

“The return of the 2-stroke was definitely the highlight of the SPY Del Moto Derby for me,” says 7-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath. “The new track design was rad, and it’s still fun to race against your friends and even land on the podium. I love racing at the Del Mar Fairgrounds!”

Continuing their philanthropic approach to events, SPY donated a portion of each race entry directly to the Keep A Breast Foundation. With the mission of eradicating breast cancer for future generations, Keep A Breast educates young people about prevention, early detection, and cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.

SPY would like to thank the organizations and companies that made the SPY Del Moto Derby possible, including: the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Transworld MX, Toyota of Escondido, North County’s House of Motorcycles, FMF, One Industries, Pala Raceway, Motocross Fast, Maxima Lubricants, Surface Sun Systems, Pop Chips, SOL Republic, Allegiance and We All Ride.
