Sheldon Creed at LOORRS Lake Elsinore 2013The Prodigy” Sheldon Creed and the OCCR crew defended their home turf this past weekend at both the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks Series.

One of the hardest things about being an off road racer is the time and commitment that it really takes in order to win, even more difficult is living up to the nickname “The Prodigy” at just 15 years of age.  Going into Round 5 Sheldon Creed was sitting uncomfortably in 11th place over-all in the Championship Points standings and he was well aware of the fact that he would have to make up some valuable ground at Lake Elsinore for Rounds 5&6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

Kicking off the weekend, Sheldon Creed turned the fastest lap time for the Pro Lite division and would earn himself and the #74 Pro Lite a front row seat for the main event.  As if that wasn’t a big enough task for the young Creed, Sheldon and the OCCR crew had to work twice as hard this weekend in an attempt to take on 27 of the fastest Pro Lites in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series as well as some of the most elite off-road veterans in the sport at Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks Series at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.  Continuing his hot streak, Creed was able to pull off the fastest qualifying time at SST beating out none other than NASCAR superstar Robby Gordon, making it two for two.

The pressure was on as the 15-year-old Sheldon Creed took the starting line in Round 5 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.  The green flag dropped and Creed quickly made his way through turn one and precisely put himself at the front of the pack.  Creed would wheel the AM Ortega Pro Lite #74 around the Lake Elsinore Motorsports track lap after lap continuing to lead the field of 27 Pro Lites each time around.  There was no looking back for Creed, although few had their opportunity to make a move following a full course caution, none were able to succeed.

Sheldon Creed would go on to lead every lap of the 14-lap main event and claim his first Pro class win in the Pro Lite division.

After a quick celebration with the team, Creed and the OCCR crew packed up and headed straight to Qualcomm Stadium for Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks main event.  After qualifying 1st on Friday, Sheldon started Saturday’s heat race in the last position due to the complete inversion.  Sheldon quickly made his way to the front of the pack and was holding off second place, Rob MacCachren, until a mistake in the first corner gave Rob the chance he needed to make a pass and take the checkered flag.

Fast forward to the final event of the evening, Sheldon Creed lined up 2nd on the grid and ready to throw everything at it in order to claim yet another victory for the day. Creed fought to stay focused and hold a steady racing line as wreckage after wreckage happened around the track.  When it was all said and done, Sheldon Creed would stand on the podium between two of the most iconic names in off-road racing; Robby Gordon and Rob MacCachren.

“It was a crazy day racing two different series within a few hours. After being so close to first place in the past, it felt awesome to finally be on top of the podium at the Lucas race. Then after rushing down to SST and getting to race with Robby Gordon and Rob Mac, taking home 2nd place felt like a big accomplishment,” Creed said.

Coming off of a spectacular day of racing the night before, Sheldon Creed and the OCCR crew made their way into Round 6 with a ton of confidence and the number one qualifying position.  The AM Ortega Pro Lite #74 was staged on the front row once again with the reigning Pro Lite champion RJ Anderson and Creed was looking for win number two for the weekend.

When the green flag dropped it was all business and Creed was looking to make his way to the front of the pack early on.  Sitting in the second place position, Sheldon Creed carefully planned his every move in order to over take race leader RJ Anderson.  A couple laps into the race Creed took a chance in turn 4 and it paid off in a big way, Sheldon Creed was able to put the #74 Pro Lite in the first place position but unfortunately for Creed it would be short lived.  A full course caution would come out half way into Creed completing his lap while in the lead and would force Sheldon Creed to give the position back as it sat prior to the caution.

Creed would go on to finish Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in the second place position and take the #74 AM Ortega BFGoodrich Pro Lite to the top of the podium for the third time in one weekend of racing action.  This Round 6 podium moves Sheldon Creed from 11th to 3rd in the over-all championship points standings in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

There is no better place to win than on your home turf, and for “The Prodigy” he was able to do just that.  Sheldon Creed continues to prove himself time and time again, after Rounds 5&6 all will be keeping an eye on “The Prodigy” Sheldon Creed.

Sheldon and team would like to thank their sponsors who make racing possible:  BFGoodrich, AM Ortega Construction, Trench Shoring Co, Fox Racing Shox and Eibach Springs, GoRhino! Products and Method Race Wheels.
