Lucas-Oil-Regional-Off-Road-Arizona-3-19-13GILBERT, AZ: After considerable consideration, the April 6th round of the Arizona Short Course Championship Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Race presented by ADS Shocks will be postponed and positioned as a double header with the November 9th and 10th race at Firebird Raceway.  Arizona racers are encouraged to race the Southern California Lucas Oil Regional Series race at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on April 13th and if attending will receive a free practice at the next ASCC race, a $50 value.  “We did everything that we could to make the transition of race locations between Speed World Raceway and Firebird Raceway, but with it coming down to the wire we want to be considerate of racers schedules and planning therefore made the decision to reschedule the race as part of a double header in November,” said Tim Jones, President of the ASCC / Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Arizona.

“We have worked with the Southern California Regional Series to encourage our Arizona racers to run the Lake Elsinore race instead, which is the same track that will be part of the Lucas Oil Regional Shootout later in the year,” continued Jones.  “By going to that race they will receive a free practice at our next ASCC race and will also be able to put some track time towards the October Shootout to have a little more competitive advantage.”

This schedule change is specifically due to the closure of Speed World Raceway after just over 50 years of being an outlet for Arizona motorsports enthusiasts, which is where the April 6th race was originally scheduled to take place.  This comes at the same time as Firebird International Raceway’s property lease with the Gila River Indian Reservation is in transition between the current property managers and future possibilities.

“We expect that by the November date we will be able to have full access to the Firebird Short Course track again,” said Tim Jones.  “In the meantime, our June 8th event at the Cocopah Speedway in Yuma Arizona and the September 7th event at the Tucson International Raceway in Tucson will maintain their originally scheduled dates.”

The first round of ASCC Arizona Lucas Oil Regional Series was a huge success with a full field of racers and spectators filling the stands to enjoy the racing.  There were Monster Truck Rides both day’s for the family, and on Sunday there was Freestyle Motocross Exhibitions.  To see pictures and results from the day go to https://www.facebook.com/notes/arizona-short-course/arizona-short-course-lucas-oil-regional-off-road-series-drew-large-group-of-race/10151341646014615
