SAN DIEGO—Leaving its home base for the first time, Roger Norman’s Dirt Live weekly desert racing internet broadcast will be held in on its regular day and time Tuesday at 7 p.m. but for the first time in the popular show’s first season it will air away from its home studio.  Broadcast on www.score-international.com, this week’s regular show will be held at the Oakley World headquarters in SoCal featuring the Dirt Sports Magazine 2012 Driver of the Year Awards announcement event.

Roger Norman’s Dirt Live new one-hour show is broadcast live weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.  The show content is centered around Norman’s two desert racing series, the SCORE Desert Series and the High Desert Racing Association as well as the new bonus points championship purse program he has developed called the World Championship of Desert Racing. Broadcast studios are located at the Norman Motorsports race shop in San Diego. All live events, this will be the sixth Dirt Live show to air.

Second-generation desert racer Ryan Arciero, a two-time winner of the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, will be a special guest on Dirt Live along with Jim Ryan, publisher of the popular Dirt Sports Magazine. Tuesday’s show will also include interviews with the Dirt Sports award winners for 2012—Driver of the Year, Desert Racing Driver of the Year, Short Course Driver of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Six of the first eight individuals to win Dirt Sports Driver of the Year awards have been SCORE desert racers–Jason Baldwin (2004), Carl Renezeder (2006), Rob MacCachren (2007), Heidi Steele (2008), Andy McMillin (2009) and Bryce Menzies (2011).

Norman will be one of the award presenters as well iconic Sal Fish, who was the CEO/President of the original SCORE International during its first 39 seasons.

NORMAN NOTES…
Norman, 49, a Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 overall winner himself, acquired ownership of the world-renown SCORE International on Dec. 20, 2012 from Sal Fish, 73, the iconic godfather of desert racing who ran SCORE for 39 years.

As a hotel/casino owner in northern Nevada, business developer and a champion racer himself, Norman re-started the High Desert Racing Association, (HDRA) in 2011. HDRA was highly regarded when it was active originally in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Norman is a regular on his weekly Dirt Live internet webcast with his ‘Pit Stop with Roger’ segment, aired live each Tuesday at 7 p.m. (Pacific Time).

DIRT LIVE SPECIAL EDITION-WEDNESDAY…
Dirt Live will present its first special edition show at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 13) when it broadcasts live the drawing for starting positions, by class, for the upcoming MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250. The drawing will be held in the SCORE Operations complex in San Diego.

DIRT LIVE CREW
Desert racing public address announcer George Antill is the host of Norman’s Dirt Live program. While being refined weekly, one of the regular elements of the show will be a SCORE social media interchange, allowing fans and racers to comment and ask questions through the SCORE Facebook and SCORE Twitter platforms.  Another special segment each week is Tech Tips with SCORE Tech co-director Jake Velasco.

Andrew Grimshaw, SCORE Media Production Manager, is the coordinating producer of the show. The program is hosted on ustream.com, the world’s largest streaming internet site.

ON THE BAJAscope
In its 40th year as the world’s foremost desert racing organization in 2013, the three-race 2013 SCORE Desert Series, with all three massive special events held in Baja California, Mexico, starts with the 27th MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 (March 8-10). Both starting and finishing in Ensenada, the other two events will be the 45th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 (May 31-June 2) and the 46th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 (Nov. 14-17).

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF DESERT RACING
The 2013 SCORE Desert Series will also be part of the quickly-evolving World Championship of Desert Racing, which will combine points accumulated in the three SCORE Baja races along with points earned from three of the four-race 2013 HDRA Series, all held in the United States. Both the SCORE and HDRA series will crown their own individual class and overall point champions as well with a bonus purse for those racers who qualify for the World Championship of Desert Racing points bonus purse program to earn a desert racing World Champion title.

With a growing total, for the inaugural World Championship of Desert Racing bonus purse, an official total of $45,000 has been posted to date from new SCORE sponsors Amber Racing Services ($25,000), King Shocks ($10,000) and Rigid Industries ($10,000). For classes with at least five starters in each qualifying race in 2013, the World Champion titles will be decided on combined points from the three SCORE races and the three HDRA races with the bonus purse paid using the same formula based on total purse and number of starters in each class as is used currently for each SCORE race.

MORE AWARDS…
In addition to season class point championships and World Championship titles, the racers are also competing for part of the nearly $400,000 in cash purse and contingency postings each race. There are also annual SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year Awards including the MasterCraft Safety SCORE Rookie of the Award that also receives a $2,000 cash bonus and custom-made driver’s race suit.
