Monster Energy Supercross kicked off with the energy and excitement that has become a familiar feeling to both riders and fans as the opening round invaded Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

The sold-out crowd was treated to an action-packed night of racing with Monster Energy riders turning out impressive performances.

Monster Energy’s Chad Reed (below) made his return to racing after a long recovery from injury he sustained during the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season. He showed consistency in the main event where he finished just off the podium in fourth.

Monster Energy’s Jake Weimer (below) also put together an impressive ride, finishing the opening round in fifth.

After an exciting run in the heat race where he raced through the pack to second, the main event didn’t go Ryan Villopoto’s way. He didn’t give up the fight throughout the 20-lap main and ended up 16th.
