Multiple news sources are reporting that off-road racer Rick Huseman was in a plane crash yesterday near Barstow, California, that killed he and the two other passengers, among them his brother Jeff.

The small plane was attempting to make an emergency landing at the Barstow/Dagget Airport while returning home on Sunday after attending the Monster Energy Cup on Saturday night.


Huseman began racing in the late ‘90s. In 2009, he earned the Traxxas TORC Series Championship in Pro 4. He backed up that impressive season with the 2010 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series Championship in 2010. He was currently in second place in the 2011 Lucas Oil Series. Huseman was also selected as the 2010 Dirt Sports Magazine Driver of the Year.

Huseman was 38 years old.
