Irvine, CA (September 6, 2011) – In a special tribute to the Baja 1000 and a select few motorcycle endurance events, the lights will be turned off for a special Baja Designs night race when the 2011 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil visits the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California on Saturday, September 17th. As a consolation to some of the expert riders that miss the cut for the main event, the Baja Designs crew will mount up their battery powered Diablo light kits to several riders bikes and send them back out for a winner take all dash for cash.
“We have held a few night races during the Vegas event and it is amazing to see how fast the riders go through the obstacles” noted Mike Karsting, VP of events at Source Interlink. “The crowd just loves it so we decided that for our first trip to Southern California, we needed to do something special and the Baja Designs crew was willing to make it happen by providing the lights for all of the competitors”.
While the X Games event in July was the first EnduroCross in California, that one was for Expert riders only and the Ontario event will feature the Vet, Open Amateur and TrialsCross classes in addition to some of the best off road riders in the world competing in the Expert class. The pit area is open to the public for free all day and the arena is also open for free during the daytime practice and qualifiers, which get started on Saturday morning. The top 30 Expert/Pro riders also do a one at a time Hot Lap during the mid-afternoon so you can make a day out of it.
