TOOELE, UTAH— When the dust settled at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, Sunday two new faces had ascended to the top step of the podium in the SuperLite Championship Series — Patrick Clark positioning himself for a run at the overall points championship and Wyatt Kirchner breaking out as one of the youngest racers to win a SuperLite showdown.

Saturday’s SuperLite race was Patrick Clark’s from seconds after the start. The Las Vegas racer jumped out to a commanding lead and never let up, taking it to a stacked field of SuperLite racers and coming away with his first Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series win.

“My heart’s still pounding,” said Clark, following the finish. “I knew what I had to do when I got out there. Off the start, got out around the outside, just held it open, put my head down, wanted to keep the lead, stay smooth, stay out front.”

Overall points leader RJ Anderson (Walker Evans Racing/SoCal Super Trucks) battled hard all race to move up from deep in the pack and come away with second place.

“I was just trying to pick them off, be smooth and keep my head on. That’s what we ended up doing. On a day like this, you can’t complain too much about second,” said Anderson.

Kawasaki/Monster Energy’s Chad George also started at the back of the field, but wrung every bit of horsepower out of his truck on the last lap to pass Jacob Person and take third place at the line.

“We knew it was going to be me and R.J. (Anderson), moving from the back to the front. We both started dead last,” said George. “We knew that Pat (Clark) was going to just break out. He was up front, and on a track like this, it’s as many passes as you can get, and we got the third place. I’m so pumped, just throwing the car in there.”

In Sunday’s race, SuperLite siblings Wyatt and Dawson Kirchner both took to the front of the pack and raced hard for the finish.

Anderson got in between them, finding himself in what he called a “Kirchner sandwich,” before a fight to the finish that saw Wyatt take the checkered flag, Anderson finish second and Dawson come in third.

“Everyone was running really good. Those General Tires were hooking up great. I have no complaints. I felt like I ran a good race and was fortunate enough to land a first place,” said Wyatt Kirchner.

Wyatt’s spotters in the pit where pumped full of adrenaline as he pushed toward the line with the lead.

“He was screaming at me the whole time, ‘Inside, inside, inside. You’ve got to beat him,’” said Kirchner. “I’ve got to thank my family and the Lord for keeping me safe, General Tire, Oakley, Speed Racing and Bull Barbeque.”

Kirchner’s patience behind Pat Clark and Brent Fouch paid off, as the two tangled up and allowed him to run to the front of the race.

Anderson praised Wyatt Kirchner’s racing down the stretch.

“He drove awesome. Being out in front, I don’t know if it’s his first time or not, I was trying to be really clean, and he never even made one mistake. So in the last lap, I was like, if he’s not going to give it to me, I guess I’m going to have to try, but it didn’t end up working,” said Anderson. “I can’t thank all the guys who help me enough. All my crew who busted their butts all weekend. We ran three classes. They busted their butt for every single one, worked into the night, worked into the morning. That’s the real success story here. On a day like this, I’m happy to bring home second.”

Torchmate-sponsored Dawson Kirchner’s third place finish follows up a win in round 6 of the SuperLite series.
