Most of the 17 professional off-road drivers in Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ (LOORRS) premier Pro2 Unlimited class are ecstatic if they ever manage to reach the podium.  ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren holds himself to a higher standard though, constantly striving to be the best at whatever he does.  This iron will has allowed “Rockstar Rob” to earn three consecutive Pro2 Unlimited short course racing championships in as many years.  Coming into last weekend’s racing at historic Glen Helen Raceway, MacCachren was fifth in season points and looking to move forward in the rankings.

MacCachren qualified third for Saturday’s Round 5 race, the first time he has not been the pacesetter this year.  An inverted start found “Rob Mac” on the second row in his No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck when the green flag dropped.  MacCachren battled with Robby Woods for second place the first half of a race that was full of mechanical carnage for the competition, forcing many red flags.  Rockstar Rob had his sights set on the leader and was reeling him in when the hungry crowd behind him snuck by late in the race.  With only two laps remaining Rob Mac found himself in fourth place.  MacCachren’s years of experience shined through as he kept a cool head and regained position to finish Round 5 in second place, just five seconds behind the winner.

On Sunday MacCachren qualified first for Round 6 of racing, which put him on the outside of the third row with the inverted start.  Rockstar Rob fought his way through traffic on the first two laps before a rare loss of control and spin in the final turn found MacCachren giving up a lot of ground to the race leaders.  Fortunately he still had plenty of time to work his way back up in the field and had passed several competitors to sit in the sixth position at the mandatory caution half way through the race.  During the second half, MacCachren continued to pick off other drivers to move up to third place.  Rob Mac then battled back and forth with Greg Adler for second and ended up coasting to third place after his driveshaft let loose at the very end of the race.  The two podium finishes at Glen Helen move Rob MacCachren and his ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety team unofficially up to fourth place in season points for the LOORRS Pro2 Unlimited class.

ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren’s hectic schedule takes him to Red Bud, Michigan on Memorial Day weekend for the TRAXXAS TORC short course season opener.  The following weekend Rob trades short course racing for the open desert at the Tecate SCORE International Baja 500.  Coverage of last weekend’s LOORRS race at Glen Helen featuring MacCachren’s No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck will air on CBS, the Speed Channel, Versus, and MavTV, so be sure to check your local listings.  For the latest Rob Mac updates visit MacCachren Motorsports’ Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/maccachren21.
